For succulent seedlings, use small particles and add less peat moss. How much peat moss to add depends somewhat on your local climate and how much you use. For breathable pots like terracotta pots, you can add more. The basic requirements of succulents for soil: loose and breathable, good drainage and water retention, containing a certain amount of humus, moderate particle size, no overly fine dust, weakly acidic or neutral, and a few species can be slightly alkaline.

No matter what stage they are at, there must be a ventilated environment, especially in summer. The most important things for getting through summer are ventilation and shade. As for watering, watering should be appropriately reduced. Although they are seedlings, they still cannot be watered too much, because in summer too much water can very easily suffocate the roots and cause black rot. Generally, depending on the soil condition, watering once every 3~5 days is fine. Note that you must water at night, not during the day.

How to water succulent leaf-propagation seedlings? After rooting and sprouting, begin to gradually accept sunlight, but they cannot be exposed to strong sunlight. In the early stage, it is best to first place them in a semi-shaded environment to receive diffused light. Since seedlings have relatively weak water storage capacity, after sprouting you should water around the soil, and be careful not to water the leaves, as this can easily cause phenomena such as large leaves turning to water, which is not good for seedling growth. In addition, place them in a ventilated environment. Watering time is not fixed; when the surface layer of the soil is dry, water a little. Later-stage care of seedlings is rather troublesome, so you should still make appropriate adjustments according to your own situation.

During the acclimatization period, if you feel the potting soil is too dry, you can spray a thin layer of mist or fungicide on the soil surface every day, only to increase humidity. Be careful to stop at the right point. After the acclimatization period, you must decisively give water, otherwise the plant will continue to wilt, become soft, and drop leaves due to lack of water, and the mortality rate may increase.

When exactly can seedlings sown from succulent seeds be exposed to sunlight? About 60% germination is enough. If germination is uneven, it is best to move the seedlings and expose the already germinated seedlings to sunlight, but beginners may feel they cannot move seedlings well, so exposing them all together is also no problem. However, when not fully germinated, if exposing them to sunlight, be sure to keep the soil moist. Many varieties easily become leggy, such as Crassula, etc. My experience is to give light from the start of sowing, and when the seedlings have mostly emerged, begin to remove the cover and ventilate.

For succulent leaf-propagation, if the mother leaf has fallen off, how should the seedlings be cared for, and can they be exposed to sunlight? Bury the roots in the soil, do not leave them exposed outside. They can be exposed to sunlight, but not to strong sunlight. Through glass or a screen window is fine.
