"Radical remedy" means pulling the burning firewood out from under the pot so the water stops boiling. But I think this phrase could not be more apt when applied to Brother Xiong's orchid-growing method. What I want to say, though, is that this approach did not stop the orchids from growing - instead, it made them grow even more luxuriantly, with glossy green leaves.

Here, I want to say that although Brother Xiong is a genuine farmer and a rather careless person, on this matter he still did something reasonable. I just want to say that he really is bold, just like the saying goes: knowing there is a tiger on the mountain, he still walks toward the tiger's mountain.

What exactly happened? Zhang Longxiong (Brother Xiong), who loves playing with orchids, was sorting out the orchids he had been caring for. When other people's orchids overflow their pots, they divide them, but he does not do that at all. He simply gently turns the orchid out, brushes aside the soil on the surface, uses a tool to pick out all the young orchid shoots in the middle, and also takes out the old pseudobulbs of orchids that are not growing vigorously, as long as the surrounding young shoots have room to grow.

Then he chooses a relatively loose pot, gives the orchid roots a major trim, disinfects them, and afterward adds freshly mixed orchid potting medium to the pot, letting the orchid burst into life once again and bloom once again.

This approach was originally thought to be self-destructive. Unexpectedly, in March this year, while I was playing at his house, seeing orchids like this gave me a shock - they had actually grown many young shoots, and the old orchid leaves were no less impressive either, looking glossy green, which made me sit up and take notice.

Here, the editor wants to say that there are many ways to grow orchids, and the key is which aspect you consider from. In short, as long as you master the basic knowledge of orchid growing and add your own innovation, growing orchids well is not too difficult a thing. When it comes to caring for orchids, what clever tips do you have? I hope everyone can share and exchange ideas.
