As soon as autumn arrives, many flower lovers ask Huahua, why do my flowers not only stop growing, but also get yellow leaves and drop leaves? Well, Huahua can't help but ask you one thing: have you repotted them? If your flowers haven't been repotted for a long time, the soil becomes severely compacted, water can't get in, fertilizer can't get in, and over time the leaves naturally turn yellow!

Repot a pothos and it will scramble into a growing waterfall!

If your pothos has been growing for 1-2 years without getting bigger, and has gradually started showing yellow leaves, then it's definitely time to repot it! While the temperature is still 25°C, it's the perfect time to repot!

How to repot?

1. Turn the pothos whose roots have filled the pot upside down, hold the pothos with one hand, and gently tap the pot with the other hand, and you can take the whole pothos out directly.

2. Clean the soil off the roots. For those roots that are tangled together, you can first roughly separate them by hand, then trim off the overly long old roots and weak roots.

3. To prevent bacterial infection after potting, you can soak the pothos with trimmed roots in a carbendazim solution for more than half an hour, then take it out and let the wounds dry.

4. If you want the pothos to grow well, the soil must be loose and breathable. You can choose leaf mold, perlite and coconut coir in a 3:2:1 ratio, then pot the pothos and water it thoroughly once.

5. Put the pothos in a cool, ventilated place to let the roots recover for 1 week, then place it somewhere with good indirect light. Just wait for the pothos to grow like crazy!

Repot a money tree and keep it for 20 years without root rot!

Why does your money tree get yellow leaves and root rot so easily? It must be that the potting soil isn't breathable! Hurry and take advantage of the cool weather now to repot your money tree!

How to repot a money tree?

1. If the potting soil stays unbreathable for a long time, the money tree will get root rot. First take the whole money tree out of the pot, then use a sterilized knife to cut off the rotten roots.

2. Soak the entire root system of the money tree in a carbendazim or potassium permanganate solution to disinfect it, about 1 day is enough, then take it out and let the wounds dry.

3. To avoid root rot in the money tree, you must choose loose, breathable nutrient soil for the potting mix, and you can use leaf mold and perlite in a 3:1 ratio to make it; of course, you must put tile shards or clay pebbles in the pot to increase drainage and breathability.

4. After potting, first put the money tree in a cool, ventilated place to let the roots recover for 1 week, then place it somewhere with good indirect light. The money tree has shallow roots and fears waterlogging and root rot the most, so don't water it too much normally. Poke a small wooden stick 3-5 cm into the soil, pull it out and if the stick is dry, you can water it.

Repot a clivia and it will definitely bloom in autumn and winter!

Autumn and winter are once again the time for clivia to bloom. If your clivia still hasn't grown any bigger by now, it may be because the roots have filled the pot and you must repot it quickly!

How to repot a clivia?

1. Take the clivia out of its original pot. Note that when removing the clivia from the pot, hold the clivia with one hand and turn the pot upside down, and you can easily take the clivia out.

2. Clean the soil off the clivia's roots. Be careful not to damage the roots when cleaning the soil, then rinse slightly with clean water, which lets you quickly identify rotten roots and hollow roots.

3. When you see hollow roots and rotten roots on the root system, cut them off with sterilized scissors, then apply some carbendazim powder or plant ash to the wounds.

(Image author: Longxiao Yijian)

4. Prepare loose, breathable nutrient soil, which can be made with 5 parts leaf mold + 1 part pine needle soil. To give the clivia plenty of nutrients, you can grab a handful of roasted sunflower seeds or peanuts and scatter them in the potting soil, but be sure they are plain flavored.

5. Because the clivia's roots are bare, don't just throw it into the pot and fill with soil, otherwise the middle of the root system will be left empty. So first take a handful of soil and pack it against the bottom of the clivia's roots, wrapping the roots, then put it into the pot. Center and secure the clivia around the pseudobulb, then fill with soil and press it firm.

6. After potting, water thoroughly once, until water flows out from the bottom of the pot. Clivia has fleshy roots, so when watering normally, it's better to keep it dry than wet, and then you won't have to worry about root rot killing it!

Repot an asparagus fern and it will zip up to the ceiling!

If your asparagus fern keeps getting yellow leaves, and some even turn yellow all over, besides watering too little, the main reason may be that your asparagus fern needs repotting!

How to repot an asparagus fern?

1. Asparagus ferns that generally need repotting have been growing for more than 2-3 years, with roots filling the entire pot, and the roots may even have grown out of the pot, so at this point you need to remove the whole asparagus fern from the pot.

(Image author: Yiri Yitian)

2. Gently tap the root system with your hand to clean the soil off the asparagus fern's roots. Be careful and don't damage the roots, then rinse the roots with clean water and directly cut off the old roots and weak roots you see. You can also divide the plant at this time; find the nodes where the asparagus fern has offshoots and gently pull them apart.

3. For the soil to pot it in, you can mix 3 parts leaf mold with 2 parts river sand, place a few tile shards at the bottom of the pot, and also add a handful of slow-release fertilizer to the pot, then repot the asparagus fern.

4. Put the asparagus fern in a well-ventilated indoor spot, mist the leaves often, and make sure it gets enough indirect light normally. The asparagus fern will quickly grow like crazy, and climbing onto the wall is no problem at all!

Repot a snake plant and it will poke through the ceiling in no time!

Snake plants are one of the easiest plants to have roots fill the pot completely. Huahua still remembers growing a snake plant in a plastic pot before, and in the end there were so many roots that they burst the pot open!

How to repot a snake plant?

1. Before repotting a snake plant, it's best to withhold water for a few days to let the potting soil dry out, then poke along the edge of the pot a few times with chopsticks to loosen the soil, so it can be easily removed from the pot.

2. Remove the soil from the snake plant's roots. If you have a large pot at home, you don't need to divide the plant; if your pot isn't big enough, then just divide the snake plant directly. Note that each divided snake plant must have roots, so it's easier for them to grow.

3. To prevent root rot in the snake plant, it's best to put 2-3 cm of crushed brick at the bottom of the pot, then add nutrient soil. If you want the snake plant to grow vigorously, you can also add some cooked, fermented soybeans and eggshells at the bottom of the pot.

4. Repot the snake plant, then water thoroughly once, and afterward just put it in a cool, ventilated place! Later, as long as there's no water accumulating in the pot, the snake plant will grow like crazy, and poking through the ceiling is no problem at all!

Repot a kalanchoe and flower buds will pop out like crazy in autumn and winter!

Many flower lovers worry every day, why hasn't my kalanchoe grown any bigger yet, and when on earth will it bloom? Huahua thinks that if your kalanchoe has been bought for several years without repotting, then it definitely won't be easy for it to grow bigger and bloom!

(Image author: liuya9999)

How to repot a kalanchoe?

1. Take the kalanchoe out of its original pot, then gently loosen the soil around the roots a bit. It's best to keep a clump of the original soil, not remove it all.

2. Prepare a new pot, put loose, breathable clay pebbles at the bottom, then add new nutrient soil.

3. Put the kalanchoe with its soil clump directly into the new pot, then fill it with soil and press the soil down slightly.

4. After potting, water thoroughly once. When watering, you can mix a little trace-element fertilizer into the water, then keep it in a cool, ventilated place for care, and afterward put it somewhere with good light. Soon the kalanchoe will grow new shoots and bloom!
