As soon as autumn arrives, everyone loves to put their succulents in the sun, hoping to bring out their colors quickly, but they forget that autumn is also a peak season for succulent pests. If you are not careful, your succulents will all be dead before they even get a chance to look beautiful! So pest and disease control in autumn brooks no delay!

Kill mealybugs like this and they will die right away!

A few days ago, Huahua saw a gardening friend who had placed a few freshly potted succulents on the balcony and discovered 3 fat, big mealybugs. Guess what happened? It turned out the mealybugs from upstairs had fallen down!

1. Squash them with your bare hands or with tweezers

If there are not too many mealybugs at home, you can find a toothpick, tweezers, or a pointed needle and simply stab them dead. Although mealybugs look rather hard, in fact a single stab kills them.

2. Wash them off with running water

If some gardening friends find it gross and do not want to touch them, then put the whole succulent under running water, turn on the tap directly, and carefully rinse both the front and back, using the running water to wash the mealybugs away. You can also directly use a pressure spray bottle with a long wand; the effect is quite good either way.

3. Kill them with alcohol, soapy water, and so on

Gardening friends who have alcohol at home can choose to use 75% alcohol, dip a cotton swab directly in the alcohol, and gently wipe the spots on the succulent leaves where the mealybugs are. After repeating several times, the mealybugs will be killed!

4. Kill them with mosquito coils

If you find mealybugs on your succulents, you can put the succulent in a somewhat larger airtight container, then place a lit mosquito coil inside, seal it up together, and after the mosquito coil has burned out, wait a while longer, then take the succulent out. Basically, the mealybugs will be killed!

5. Spray with pesticide

The last method Huahua introduces is to spray pesticide directly. For example, the commonly used Jie Bi Zhi or Jie Chong Ling can be mixed directly according to the concentration, sprayed about once a week, and the mealybugs will soon be killed! Of course, you can also try this pesticide from Huahua's shop; the effect is also great!

Drive snails away like this and they will never dare come back!

Some gardening friends think snails are quite cute, but if they gnaw on succulent leaves, you will not find them cute anymore. So if you come across snails, hurry up and drive them away!

1. Scatter some eggshells in the pot

Do not throw away the leftover eggshells at home. Just rinse the eggshells clean with water, leave them in the sun to dry, or heat them in the microwave for a few minutes so the eggshells dehydrate quickly, then break them into pieces.

Scatter the crushed eggshell pieces on the surface of the succulent pot, or just scatter some around the edge of the pot. The edges of crushed eggshells have sharp corners. When a snail passes over the eggshells, the sharp corners will cut the snail's belly, and it will never be able to climb into the flowerpot again!

2. Scatter some table salt around the edge of the pot

If you cannot get eggshells for the moment, you can also just grab a handful of table salt from the kitchen and scatter a ring of it along the outside of the succulent pot. Table salt can dehydrate proteins. If a snail crawls over the salt, it may be harmed, and this can prevent snails from gnawing on succulent leaves!

Kill fungus gnats like this and they will all die off!

If we are talking about the most annoying thing all year round, it has to be fungus gnats! Fungus gnats get into everything, and no matter how you kill them, they just will not die. It is so maddening!

1. Yellow sticky traps

Fungus gnats especially love yellow, so to kill fungus gnats, you can go buy a yellow sticky trap and place it directly beside the succulent pot. Basically after 1-2 hours, you will see a huge number of fungus gnats stuck on the trap!

2. Laundry detergent water

Mix laundry detergent with water. Basically, for a standard 550ml mineral water bottle, adding a small pinch of laundry detergent is enough. Shake it evenly, put it in a spray bottle, and spray directly toward the places where there are fungus gnats. As long as the laundry detergent water touches the wings of the fungus gnats, they basically will not be able to fly! And if the laundry detergent water is on the dilute side, it does no harm to succulents.

3. Cover the pot surface with sand

The reason fungus gnats largely cannot be completely killed off is insect eggs in the soil. So at this time, you can spread a layer of fine sand on the surface of the pot, and then fungus gnats will not be able to go into the soil to lay eggs!

Kill ants like this and they will never be seen again!

Recently, many gardening friends have told Huahua that ants have appeared at home. Killing one does not work; you have to kill the whole nest. What should you do? Why not try soaking tobacco shreds in water!

Collect the cigarette butts left over from smoking at home; about 5-7 is enough. Soak them in clean water for more than 1 day, fish the cigarette butts out the next day, and what is left is tobacco shred water. Pour the tobacco shred water directly into the flowerpot, and basically the ants will be killed!

After reading Huahua's introduction,

does everyone know what to do now?

Why not hurry and take action while it is autumn,

because if you are too late, you will regret it!
