Pig prices are a world of ice and fire: some pig farmers rejoice, others worry

Pig prices are a world of ice and fire, with hell and heaven on either side
Since African swine fever appeared, pig prices have begun to polarize at an uncontrollable speed. In high-price areas for live pigs, prices are absurdly expensive; in low-price areas, live pigs are so cheap they are practically given away. By comparison, one is like a heaven-level pig price and the other like a hell-level pig price. The huge price gap leaves pig farmers in low-price areas feeling unhappy, and they are reluctant to sell their pigs. Why on earth are pig prices so low here?
Expert: This pig cycle may be shortened
The previous pig cycle already ended last year, and a new pig cycle began this year. Many pig farmers are not optimistic about pig prices over the next 3 years, believing that it may only end by 2020. After all, the dark period in April this year was too terrifying; the freezing-point pig price of 4 yuan made many pig farmers "abandon pigs for farming."
After the outbreak occurred, pig prices began to rise rapidly, at their highest approaching the peak pig price of the golden pig year in 2016; in addition, combined with the impact of factors such as environmental protection, some small-scale pig farmers were forced to leave the market. Because of this, some experts believe that this pig cycle may be shortened.
There may still be opportunities for an increase in late September
In another ten days or so comes the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival, and right after that is National Day. China's traditional festivals include the custom of eating meat and gathering for meals, and as the weather gradually turns cooler, people's daily consumption of pork will also increase. After all, the most direct impact of African swine fever is still on pig farmers; for people who eat pork, the impact is minimal, with only the difference of whether pork is expensive or cheap.
Finally, I hope friends who raise pigs can endure through the trough; the peak awaits everyone ahead!
