More and more people love growing flowers, and many people keep all kinds of green potted plants at home, especially plants like succulents, clivia (Clivia miniata), spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum), pothos (Epipremnum aureum), Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera), kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) and asparagus fern (Asparagus setaceus). Many people keep one pot, or even several pots, at home. But sometimes in the process of growing flowers, you will find that the plant grows slowly, looks thin and turns yellow. In fact, this situation is mainly closely related to the root system.

As the saying goes: growing flowers means growing roots. For many plants, only when the root system is well developed and vigorous can it absorb more nutrients and supply them to the branches and leaves of the plant. So growing roots is very important when growing flowers. If you want the root system to grow well, you must create a good environment for the plant's growth. Today I will share a small flower-growing tip with you: when potting up a plant, put some water-permeable and air-permeable material at the bottom of the flower pot, also called a drainage layer. So the topic I will share with you today is:

Put a little "this" at the bottom of the flower pot, and the root system will grow "thicker and stronger". It is so beautiful!

Today I will introduce to you that in daily flower growing, two kinds of things are placed at the bottom of the flower pot, but these two kinds of things are placed in layers at the bottom of the flower pot!

Brick pieces, broken tiles

In daily life, brick pieces and broken tiles are very common. In fact, they are a very important growing medium in the process of growing flowers. This is because placing brick pieces and broken tiles at the bottom of the flower pot as a drainage layer can not only prevent the soil in the flower pot from leaking out through the bottom hole, but also prevent the soil from blocking the bottom hole, which would then affect the air permeability of the flower pot, causing water to accumulate in the pot and the plant roots to rot. So when potting up a plant, first put brick pieces or broken tiles at the bottom of the flower pot. These two kinds of things are too common in life. Just find a brick and a tile, smash them, and place them at the bottom of the flower pot.

Pine cones

Pine cones are also very common in life. Generally, they are often seen in woods or parks. After picking pine cones, when potting up flowers, first place bricks and broken tiles, then spread a layer of pine cones on top, and then cover with the soil for growing flowers. Handling the bottom of the flower pot in layers like this can not only prevent the plant roots from rotting, but also provide rich nutrients for plant growth.

After pine cones are buried at the bottom of the flower pot, through later fermentation, they can provide nutrients for plant growth. Moreover, pine cones are rich in pine oil and rosin, which have a sterilizing and disinfecting effect and can effectively prevent the plant roots from rotting.

When the plant root system grows in this kind of soil that is air-permeable, water-permeable and rich in nutrients, it can grow quickly. Once the root system grows strong, it will naturally supply a steady stream of nutrients to the plant's leaves and branches, so that the whole plant can grow strong and beautiful. Especially when growing money tree (Pachira aquatica), peace lily (Spathiphyllum), ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia), Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera), and spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) in daily life, first put brick pieces and broken tiles at the bottom of the flower pot, then add a layer of pine cones, and then add soil to plant. This is most suitable for the growth of the plant root system.
