Now many vegetable-growing friends love eating sweet potato leaves and sweet potato stems. Indeed, they are rich in mucin, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B, dietary fiber, as well as minerals such as calcium and iron. When elderly people eat them, it delays aging; when children eat them, they shoot up in height! They are usually sold in vegetable markets too, but today Xiaoye will tell you a little secret trick to enjoy sweet potato leaves right at home!

Growing methods:

NO.1 Hydroponic method

1. Buy 1-2 sweet potatoes from the vegetable market that have not sprouted, look good, and have no damage or rot. After bringing them home, wash the dust off the surface.

2. Prepare a water-holding container. A drinking cup or a plastic bottle will do, as long as it has no holes! Put the sweet potato into the container, but do not submerge it completely; leave part of it exposed outside, then place it in a spot with good light and good ventilation!

3. In about 10-15 days, the sweet potato will take root. Once the white roots have grown long enough, many small young shoots will emerge. These young shoots are the future sweet potato leaves. Once the sweet potato leaves grow to more than 10 cm, you can snap them off and transplant them into a flower pot and they will grow!

4. A hydroponically grown sweet potato can grow at least 10 or more shoots, so when transplanting sweet potato leaves you will not have to worry about having no stems or leaves to plant. Prepare some leaf mold or perlite with good soil air permeability, place the soil in the sun to bake, disinfect and sterilize it. Once the soil is sterilized, you can transplant the sweet potato. After transplanting, be sure to water thoroughly. The sweet potato leaves grown this way can then be picked and eaten, and if the environment is suitable, the sweet potato leaves will grow even more vigorously than pothos!

NO.2 Soil culture method

1. The soil culture method is also very simple. Plant a healthy, undamaged sweet potato directly into a flower pot. Be sure to use soil with good air permeability. When planting, let 1/3 of the sweet potato remain exposed outside, then water thoroughly and place it in a sunny, well-ventilated spot. This will help it sprout quickly!

2. After 10-15 days, the sweet potato will sprout. As time goes on, there will be more and more sprouts, and they will become more and more luxuriant. If you want the sweet potato leaves to grow quickly and well, at this point you can apply some decomposed cake fertilizer water. This way, you can not only grow beautiful sweet potato leaves but also produce small sweet potatoes!

3. Sweet potato leaves can be picked and eaten. After picking, be sure to replenish fertilizer and water, and the sweet potato leaves will keep growing nonstop! Then you will have a steady supply of sweet potato leaves to eat!
