Stem cuttings
Time and temperature for rose cuttings
For the money tree, choose May or September for cuttings. In terms of temperature, that is, take cuttings when the air temperature is 18~25°C. Under these conditions, it will take about 30 days to take root!
Preparation of cutting tools
Small flowerpot, loose and breathable soil, watering can, spray bottle, scissors, rooting powder
Steps for rose cuttings:
Step 1: Choose a branch whose flowers have just faded, cut off the top flower stalk and the bottom leaves, keep only 2~3 leaves at the top, and make a 45-degree diagonal cut at the bottom to increase the contact area between the cutting and the soil. The length of the cutting should be about 15 cm;
Step 2: Soak the entire prepared rose branch in rooting powder solution for about 12 hours for later use, ensuring the cutting fully absorbs water;
Step 3: Prepare nutrient soil for rose cuttings using loose and breathable soil. Soil mix ratio: peat soil: river sand: vermiculite = 5:3:2. After mixing the soil, water it and set aside;
Step 4: Insert the cutting 7~8 cm into the prepared soil, then sprinkle water once on the flowerpot with the cutting to ensure full contact between the soil and the cutting;
Step 5: Place the potted rose cutting in a place with light but no direct sunlight for care. During the care period, keep the potting soil moist.
Precautions
The test standard for cutting soil is that it feels moist when grasped in the hand and breaks apart when the hand is opened;
Prepare the rooting powder solution in advance, and put the prepared cutting directly into the solution to reduce water loss from the cutting;
Rooting powder can be replaced with B12, willow branch water, or white sugar; just pay attention to the concentration;
After cutting, water slowly along the edge of the pot to avoid the cutting being exposed above the soil surface;
Pay attention to temperature when taking cuttings. If the temperature is low, you can put a plastic bag over the flowerpot to maintain the temperature needed for the cutting to root. If the temperature is high, pay attention to spraying water to cool it down;
