Peony is also called the "prime minister among flowers" and is a perennial herbaceous plant, with thick, fleshy tuberous roots below ground. Peonies generally bloom in May and June, in a rich variety of colors, and the flowers somewhat resemble tree peonies. Peony flowers can be planted not only in the open air, but also in flower pots at home. The flowers are large, beautiful and vivid, and come in many colors. How do you plant and propagate potted peonies?

This flower is the "prime minister among flowers," with large and beautiful blooms. Root one branch as a cutting in a pot, and next year it will bloom in a big clump! There are three ways to plant peonies:

The first is division propagation, which is also the method most people use. Dig up an old peony plant that has been grown for two to three years, roots and all, from the pot soil, then let it dry in the sun for a bit, and then pull the tuberous roots apart by hand. If they cannot be pulled apart, use a small knife, dividing them into sections, each with three or four small buds on it.

Wipe the wounds with plant ash. Then plant them separately into prepared flower pots, and that is it. They sprout especially fast and grow very quickly.

The second is using branch cuttings, suitable for cuttings in spring in April and May, and tender branches are better. The cuttings are about six to seven cm long, with a few bud points on them, keeping only two or three leaves.

Thicker branches root more easily. Before taking cuttings, soak them in rooting water, or use willow branches soaked in water and soak them in that water. They sprout and root quickly, the survival rate is very high, and this method is also very easy.

There is another method, which is sowing seeds, but it requires some patience and time. It is best to use seeds produced in the current year and sow them in the same year. Before sowing the seeds, soak them in warm water for one day.

Then sow them into the soil. After sowing, they do not sprout very quickly, and after being grown for three years they can bloom.

To grow peonies, use the first two methods; planting a pot of beautiful and impressive peony flowers is very simple. When growing peonies normally, you only need to apply enough base fertilizer, applying some decomposed cake fertilizer or chicken manure fertilizer, and keep sufficient sunlight. Peonies then bloom especially abundantly, one flower after another, large and beautiful.

Xiaoya also grew a pot of peonies on the balcony, and every year it produces extremely gorgeous flowers.
