Miss Li of Zhumadian bought a high-end Apple phone through a zero down payment, installment payment plan. After using it for a bit under half a year, Miss Li was very satisfied with the quality of the Apple phone and decided to pay off the phone installment loan early in June, but in July she unexpectedly received a collection call from the loan company, claiming that Miss Li still had 12 installments of the loan that had not been paid off.

Miss Li was stunned. She had just paid off the 12 installments of the loan, principal and interest together, last month, so how had another 12 installments of the loan appeared? Had she been scammed?

After communicating with the loan company, Miss Li learned that she had been deceived. At the beginning, the phone store owner, for his own gain, arranged a 24-installment phone loan for Miss Li but deceived her by saying it was 12 installments. Because she was greedy for a small advantage, she was exploited by a bad person. With a 24-installment phone loan, Miss Li would have to pay more than 7,000 yuan in extra interest, yet how much does an Apple phone even cost!

Miss Li said that when she first arranged the installment phone purchase, the people in the phone store told her that buying the phone on loan had no handling fee and no interest, and that she just needed to repay on time. It was all because Miss Li was too quick to trust strangers and was exploited.

Now Miss Li not only has to repay the 12 installments of the phone installment payment to the loan company, but also has to pay the additional interest along with it. The naive Miss Li had originally only planned to buy a phone, but now she had bought a high-cost installment phone, and she was so anxious she did not know what to do.

After being scammed, Miss Li went to the phone store where she had arranged the installment plan to seek an explanation. But the former owner was no longer there; the new shop owner had just taken over, and a while ago many customers who had been scammed over installment plans had also come.

According to the new shop owner, by his count, the former old shop owner used this method to scam Miss Li and others out of roughly more than 30,000 yuan before running away. These people were unlucky enough that even after being scammed they could not find the person, and it was unknown whether the new shop owner would use the same scam method as the old shop owner to deceive consumers.
