Petunia (Petunia hybrida) has quite a few varieties, with different flower shapes and colors, and the double-flowered ones are especially beautiful. The edges of the petals have irregular ruffles, and the flowers are dazzling and eye-catching, with colors including white, red, purple, pink and so on. Especially beautiful.

And petunias are very suitable for growing indoors, and their adaptability is also very strong! A single stem can propagate a whole large pot.

1. Cut a healthy petunia stem, about 10cm is enough. (It is best to cut from below the node, as this helps healing and rooting).

2. Remove the leaves from the petunia stem, keeping only the upper 2-3 leaves.

3. Then insert it into sandy soil or potting soil for cuttings, and place it in a wind-sheltered, shaded environment. At 20°C, it generally takes 15 days to root.

There are also a few points to pay attention to in the usual care of petunias:

1. The potting soil for planting petunias is best a relatively loose soil with good drainage; generally use a mix of sandy loam and leaf mold;

2. When watering petunias in normal times, you should also be careful not to let the potting soil become too dry or too wet. Keeping the potting soil moist without waterlogging is the best state;

3. Petunias are long-day plants, so during care you must ensure there is sufficient light. If there is not enough light, it easily leads to fewer petunia flowers, a thin and small plant, and leggy stems;

4. The flowering period of petunias is relatively long, so the nutrients they need are also relatively more. Generally, during the growing season, apply a diluted liquid fertilizer once every 10 days. If you want large, brightly colored flowers, you can apply more phosphorus fertilizer during the bud stage of the petunia;

5. Also, if you want the double-flowered petunia to have a compact plant shape and overlapping petals, you need to pinch it back multiple times starting from the seedling stage to encourage more branching. After each flowering, remove the spent flowers. After pruning, cut the stems a little shorter, and before long the petunia will bloom again;

6. One more point is that in winter, when the weather is relatively dry, you should appropriately mist the petunia with water.
