The first time I saw this plant was at a friend's house. The moment I laid eyes on it, I was stunned by its appearance. How could there be such a quirky and beautiful plant in the world, covered all over in soft fuzz like a fox's tail, and on this fuzzy tail it could even bloom beautiful, stunning flowers. I was completely captivated by this plant right then. My friend told me that this plant is also called the nine-tailed fox, and also known as the monkey tail cactus (Cleistocactus colademononis), belonging to the cactus family. Grown at home, it is both pretty and ornamental, and some people keep it as a feng shui plant for protecting the home. This flower is loved by many people; kept indoors, whether hanging or shaped, it is both adorable and ethereal, and is sure to be an eye-catching sight.

The monkey tail cactus has long, soft white spines just like an animal's fur, very soft and not prickly to the touch. Its rose-red flowers are large and gorgeous with a long blooming period, making it a spectacular and stunning quirky trailing variety in the cactus family. The monkey tail cactus is a very gentle cactus-family plant with a unique shape; its spines have evolved into slender white hairs, which can block strong ultraviolet rays and absorb a certain amount of moisture. The red tubular flowers elegantly spread throughout the white hairs, very eye-catching.

The monkey tail cactus is currently the most ideal trailing potted plant. Its flowers are rose-red with white-tinged petal edges, and it blooms easily; with proper cultivation it can keep blooming throughout the whole summer. The flower shape is similar to that of the Christmas cactus, but the monkey tail cactus's flowers are larger. This flower is very easy to grow; however well cacti can be grown, it can be grown just as well, and even beginners can grow it successfully.

The monkey tail cactus relatively prefers a dry environment, and must be planted in an environment above 10 degrees; below 10 degrees it will freeze and be damaged. Normally it should not be watered too much; indoors, watering once every half a month is generally enough. Try not to water the body of the plant, as many flower lovers water too much and cause it to rot. A newly transplanted monkey tail cactus must absolutely not be watered right away; wait until it is dry before watering, and try not to water the leaves. By cutting off water on sunny days and watering only after the soil has dried out completely, you can make the monkey tail cactus grow thick and sturdy with even denser hairs.
