The wife-doting fanatic built a dream garden for his wife - he really is someone else's husband

How much effort does it take to build a garden?
Perhaps no one can say clearly.
But if you ask the protagonist featured today, "Heiren Lin,"
his answer might be more convincing.
While you are traveling, I am working;
While you are celebrating holidays, I am working;
While you are still sleeping in the morning, I am still working.
Heiren Lin's garden is 14 m long and 5 m wide, roughly just over 70 sq m, but under Heiren Lin's clever layout, it was divided into 11 different areas, of which the gray parts are paths, and the other places were made into a zoned pattern, thus increasing the three-dimensional structure of the entire garden.
If you want to visit Heiren Lin's garden, then step onto the streets of Suzhou,
and when you see that flashy pink wooden fence gate by the roadside,
that is Heiren Lin's garden gate!
When the garden was first built, the gate was still a short fence gate.
When he was doing woodworking in the garden,
there were always curious passersby poking their heads in to look,
To ensure the privacy of the yard, the gate had to be replaced!
He removed the short fence gate and replaced it with a taller fence and wooden door,
then painted both the fence and the wooden door a fresh, tender pink.
As for why a man would choose such a flashy pink?
Heiren Lin said with full confidence, because his wife likes it!
Uh, this couple's sweetness is almost too much to take!
What use is just a fence? Of course, only when the fence is covered with flowers does it count as a beautiful home!
So, along the fence, Heiren Lin built a 10 m long European rose wall.
The rose wall is mainly composed of 3 plants: 'Laughing Georgia,' 'Spirit of Freedom,' and 'Climbing Little E.'
The pink 'Climbing Little E,' although it blooms only once a year, grows very fast,
using the ground-planting method, just pay attention to pruning the branches in winter and horizontally training the main branches.
'Laughing Georgia' produces multiple blooms on one stem, with a very large flower quantity,
in winter, be sure to pay attention to fertilizing, pruning, and horizontal training.
And the Banksia rose that blooms every April has also become a magical tool for decorating the gate!
According to Heiren Lin, besides pruning dead branches,
after flowering each year, pay attention to pinching the new shoots to promote branching, and in winter add some chicken manure fertilizer, fish intestines, or slow-release fertilizer,
and even if left to grow freely the rest of the time, it can still bloom into a beautiful flower wall!
Push open the pink gate and walk in, and you can see the small repotting table.
The repotting table was all DIYed by Heiren Lin using old wood.
He used a square shelf, removed the upper wooden boards, and the lower layer became the legs of the repotting table.
Usually it is used to place small potted plants and various odds and ends.
Don't waste the leftover wood from old items either,
under Heiren Lin's handiwork, it became a hanging tool wall.
The tool wall was painted a light blue, which looks soothing at a glance.
And the most surprising thing in the entrance area is naturally the swing that children love most!
Heiren Lin said the swing was made for the little child in the family,
wanting it to swing high and also be sturdy and durable, so it was made with wood, hemp rope, and bolts.
The entire build cost less than 300 yuan, simply super affordable!
After going around the swing, you reach the entrance to the house.
At the entrance, Heiren Lin made a wooden platform. On the platform, against the wall, he created a fake fireplace landscape.
Different flowers and plants can be placed according to the different seasons.
In the corner, there is also a light blue chair.
Heiren Lin said that in winter, everyone in the family loves to fight over this chair with the best sunlight,
basically his wife wins, and he can only get the small stool under the chair...
Mm, a second wave of couple's sweetness rushes over.
Sitting on the blue chair,
drinking a cup of coffee, reading a book, and applying a face mask while at it,
and most importantly, still enjoying the flowers, life is truly a cozy pleasure!
Walking inward from the wooden platform, you reach the flowerbed area.
In order to separate the wooden platform from the flowerbed area, Heiren Lin DIYed an old door with wood as a partition.
The partition is not only beautiful, but can also serve as a support for climbing vines,
increasing the layered feel of the entire garden, simply killing two birds with one stone!
Before the wooden door bloomed:
After the wooden door bloomed:
Near the old door, a sewing machine stand was placed, combined with elm boards,
with different plants placed in different seasons, staggered in height, very layered.
What is indispensable when you have a garden? Naturally, it is the water needed for watering flowers!
At first there was only an ugly faucet in the garden, and later Heiren Lin used a 2 m long square timber,
cut it off, carved slots and holes on the back of the square timber the width of the water pipe,
and fitted the faucet into it.
At the position of the water valve, a preservative-treated wood platform was also added on the ground,
so when washing, there is no need to worry about dirty things splashing out!
Next to the water valve, there is a type of lemon privet that the children in the family like most.
One of them was pruned into the shape of a square big-faced cat, while the other became a heart shape.
The bizarre shapes attracted the children's attention.
Separated from the water valve area by a path are naturally the family's clothes-drying area and the stone mill water feature area.
Because all the clothes in the home need to be dried, a drying area was specially set up here.
The drying area uses a liftable hand-cranked clothes-drying rack, which can be folded away when not in use,
not delaying the garden's space or beauty at all!
Right next to the drying area is the stone mill water feature area.
In this area, quite a few shade-tolerant flowers are planted, such as coral bells, hostas, Japanese maple, etc.,
matched with a vintage stone mill, giving it a Japanese style.
The last area of the garden is the vegetable garden separated by a flower wall arch.
Various flowering plants compete in beauty, making the whole garden livelier.
Of course, the most surprising thing on the arch is that Heiren Lin built several birdhouse doors on the arch.
On the wall at the end of the garden, he also made several insect houses, initially intending to make an insect door.
And as for the last area, Heiren Lin said he has not yet decided what to plant for the time being,
so it can only be used for growing vegetables, which can also count as the family's "harem reserve area."
For Heiren Lin himself, in fact, before 2018,
the entire yard was in a state of constant revision and construction.
And his next plan
is to keep improving the vegetable area, the European rose wall, and the hydrangeas, striving to make them more perfect.
Because the entire garden's arches, trellises, and so on were all built by his own hands,
all his spare time outside of work is spent on the garden.
Regarding this kind of life, Heiren Lin has not a single complaint.
Seeing his wife, daughter, and the family's little cat
living tranquil days together in the garden,
I believe this is his happiest thing.
