What exactly is the "smooth sailing" plant that people commonly keep at home?

When buying flowers, everyone has surely heard of "smooth sailing" - green leaves with white flowers that look like a little white sail. Flower market owners often call it "smooth sailing," and it's also called "white palm," because its flower looks just like a white palm. So what exactly is this plant called?
Actually, both "smooth sailing" and "white palm" refer to Spathiphyllum (peace lily). Spathiphyllum is a plant in the Araceae family, native to the tropical regions of the Americas, and is now widely cultivated all over the world. Why is Spathiphyllum so popular?
It has many advantages. First of all, it is particularly shade-tolerant - it can go a week without light and still be fine. It suits most home environments. Secondly, it has a certain purifying function, with a degree of effectiveness in purifying harmful substances in the air such as formaldehyde, toluene, and ammonia.
Moreover, the flowers of Spathiphyllum are very beautiful, blooming in spring and summer. The green or white "petals" we usually see are actually not its flowers, but its spathe.
In daily care, it can be placed in the living room, study, bedroom, and other locations - it is very elegant.
Spathiphyllum is not cold-tolerant. In winter, the temperature needs to be kept above 15°C to ensure it safely overwinters. In summer, avoid exposure to direct sunlight. When it comes to watering, during the growing period you need to keep the soil moist, but you also shouldn't water too much - watering too much can easily cause its root system to rot.
