Mom caused a divorce scene and moved into my home, my stepfather came knocking, and after opening the door I yelled at my mom

Being mature really has little to do with age. Some people, though very young, live with remarkable clarity and insight; some people, even well up in years, still have not figured out what matters most to them in life, what is truly most important. I am the former; my mom is the latter. As a result, for a long time our roles have been reversed: I am the parent, and she is the child.

As for my mom, she really is a lucky woman. Ever since I was old enough to understand things, I knew my parents had a very good relationship. My dad spoiled my mom so much that even at her age she was still like a child, knowing nothing about the ways of the world, with room in her heart only for herself. From the time I was a teenager, watching my naive, childish mom, I voluntarily joined the camp of doting on her and humoring her. And so, under the care of two men, my dad and me, my mom grew up happily, and time flew by just like that. The feeling of the three of us living together as a family was very warm and sweet. We felt this combination was just right; anyway, we felt we were living happily and contentedly.

But no one can truly stay by another person's side for a lifetime, and in the end, death took my dad away from us, mother and son. After he passed away, my mom was heartbroken. Although I was already married at the time, seeing my mom, having lost her lifelong companion, look so lost and not knowing what to do, I could not set my mind at ease. During that period, after working hard every day, my wife and I still spent most of our time keeping my mom company, comforting her, reasoning with her, and cheering her up. My wife even said my mom was like our child, worrying to look at, and we did not know what would become of her later, as she did not seem like the kind of older person who could live comfortably on her own.

Fortunately, more than half a year ago, my mom was introduced to an elderly man. He had also lost his spouse, and the two hit it off immediately. My mom decided to remarry. Seeing the smile return to her face and her whole self become more cheerful, and seeing that my stepfather was a very good man, my wife and I felt reassured. We thought that no matter how good children are, they are not as considerate as a spouse who can be by your side at all times, so not long ago we helped them arrange the wedding. Unexpectedly, not long after she married and moved there, one evening while my wife and I were having dinner at home, my mom came back crying. The moment she walked in, she started complaining about everything, saying my stepfather treated her badly. My wife and I were very surprised, because as far as we could tell, my stepfather did not seem like that kind of person. But my mom kept shouting things like you can know a person's face but not their heart, saying our whole family had misjudged him. She even insisted that I go to his place the next day to settle the score and vent her anger for her, and in the end she firmly declared she wanted a divorce.

That night we still discussed whether to do as she said and go ask about the situation, but early the next morning, my stepfather showed up at our door. The moment my mom saw him, she angrily hid in the bedroom and would not come out. My stepfather, looking haggard, said my mom was very willful. His mother had fallen ill and was hospitalized, and he and his own children were all at the hospital taking care of her, but my mom kept pestering him to discuss going out together in a few days to celebrate her birthday. He got very angry at the time, thought she was being unreasonable, and snapped at her, and as a result she ran back home. After hearing the whole story, I yelled and called my mom out, and in front of my stepfather I gave her a good scolding. In the end, like a child who had done something wrong, she went home with her husband. That is my mom. Tell me, what am I supposed to do with her! I think that from now on, my stepfather, fully understanding this, will surely be able to appreciate this kind of sweet trouble. Thinking about it, I even feel a little secretly gleeful.
