There are many little experiences and tricks in life that are worth discovering. After all, there is a lot of fun in the process, and it can also lift your mood. Take growing flowers and vegetables, for example. The more someone loves growing flowers, the more they love life, and of course the easier it is for them to discover some tips for growing flowers or for daily life. With the common rice-washing water at home, most people just pour it away, while flower growers can use it to water plants. Others also just pour away overnight tea, and flower growers can use it directly to water plants too. There are many similar little tricks, and I won't share them one by one. Today I will mainly talk about the "empty oil drum" at home. Don't underestimate it, because its uses are huge!

1. Use an empty oil drum to grow onions

First punch holes around the empty oil drum, and after that you can put nutrient soil and onions layer by layer in the drum. This saves space, and the onions also grow very quickly. By normal reasoning, if you want to grow 100 onions, you would need to use several flower pots no matter what, and they would take up quite a lot of space. Growing them in a drum like this is just like a mechanical parking garage, simply too practical.

Onions grow relatively quickly, and when grown this way they usually do not need fertilizing, only a little watering. It is recommended that flower growers water once every two days. You can slowly pour water in from the top of the empty oil drum, or spray water around the onions. With proper care, you can see small sprouts emerge in about a week, and in half a month they will grow to look like the picture.

2. Use an empty oil drum to make fruit peel enzyme for watering flowers

Fruit peel enzyme, plainly speaking, is the peels of various fruits, such as bananas, apples, oranges, and so on. Throw their peels into the oil drum, fill it with water, seal it well, and leave it outdoors for generally about a month, and the fermentation is complete. The liquid made this way is a great fertilizer for growing flowers. Why say that? Because various fruit peels contain a large amount of trace elements, which are beneficial for the absorption and growth of potted flowers. In addition, fruit peel enzyme has an acidic pH. Flowers such as clivia, spider plant, pothos, and gardenia all like to grow in slightly acidic soil. Using fruit peel enzyme to water flowers can lower the pH of the soil, making it more suitable than anything.

3. Use an empty oil drum as a flower pot to grow pothos and other flowers

Use simple scissors to cut away half of the body of an empty oil drum, and after adding nutrient soil it can be used as a flower pot. This can be considered as saving the money for flower pots. If the oil drums are arranged in a row on the balcony, their ornamental value is also very high. They can be used to grow common foliage plants such as pothos, spider plant, and copper coin grass. There is one more point: an empty oil drum actually does not need to be washed too cleanly, because the oil residue inside is also a good fertilizer for growing flowers.

4. Use an empty oil drum to grow garlic

This little trick has already been shared once before in an article by Potted Plant Stack. Everyone can follow the effect in the picture to do it. Put one layer of soil and one layer of garlic. Pay attention to safety when punching holes; you can use an electric drill or a soldering iron. Growing garlic this way is the same principle as growing onions. Not only does it save space, it is also especially easy to care for. Flower growers can absolutely give it a try. After all, every household has an empty oil drum like this, right? It would be a pity to throw it away!

5. Use an empty oil drum as a storage bottle for storing things

Because an empty oil drum has a relatively large capacity, you can cut away the upper half of the bottle as shown in the picture above. At the same time, install two small handles on both sides of the bottle body. This not only makes it easy to carry, but also increases its beauty. In addition, if you look carefully, you will find that the top edge of the oil drum in the picture above is wrapped with a layer of black edging. The purpose of doing this is to prevent cutting your fingers. After all, after cutting with scissors, the edge will be relatively sharp. You can also wrap a circle of tape around it.

The above is the sharing of the "5 great" uses of empty oil drums. After reading it, don't you think it is quite interesting? Don't throw them away in the future!
