If you don't have a large yard or a large balcony, then you can choose to grow a small vegetable garden indoors. There are many different solutions, and most vegetables love plenty of light. If you want to grow fresh vegetables indoors, then you need these little tips below.

1. Make a Mini Greenhouse Yourself

The wooden rack above was also DIYed by a plant lover. In addition to this ordinary rack, some grow lights are placed on it, so the light intensity can be adjusted, and the height of the shelves can also be adjusted to accommodate taller plants.

This vertical vegetable garden cultivates vegetables that are very easy to grow, such as the most common lettuce, mint, basil and perilla.

Making this wooden rack requires some woodworking skills. You still need to buy some fluorescent lights or grow lights, and then use wire or hooks to fix the grow lights onto the rack.

Before fixing the grow lights, you can first draw some lines on the shelves, use hooks to fix the grow lights and swap in fluorescent lights, and use some packing wire to fix the cords of the grow lights to the posts of the shelves to prevent anyone from tripping over them.

You can grow plants in a ventilated and open area indoors. They do not need too much light; about 12 hours of fluorescent light exposure per day is enough. Of course, you can also place it by a windowsill with appropriate light.

If you want to promote plant growth, you still need to place the plants about 20 cm close to the grow lights. If they are placed too far away, there will be no effect. For some low-growing vegetables or flowers, you need to use some small containers to raise them up, otherwise normal plant growth cannot be promoted.

2. Hanging Potted Plants

The idea below is also very exquisite and very easy to make. You can prepare some potted plants suitable for hanging care, and prepare a container with good drainage, preferably a terracotta pot or a ceramic pot.

The hanging rope used here is actually made from some discarded electrical wire or network cable, which looks very modern. If you want a rustic style, you can use hemp rope instead.

The key to making this hanging pot is that it requires some hands-on ability. Wind the electrical wire into a hanging ring, and finally fix the potted plant on it, suspended in the air. You can hang it on a curtain rod.

For a DIY hanging pot, you can choose different techniques, and here I chose to fix it with a ring. This ring serves as the bottom of the entire hanging pot. In the same way, fix four or five cords onto this small ring, and finally you can wind them into the shape of a hanging pot, and then you can fix the flower pot directly on it.

Finally, you can plant the plants in the hanging pot prepared beforehand. Here a container without drainage holes is chosen, so a fairly deep layer of pebbles must be laid at the bottom, and then some activated charcoal is laid on top, and only then can potting soil be placed on top.

In this way, you can grow different herbaceous plants, preferably some herbaceous flowers whose roots are not too deep. You can hang it by the windowsill, water it once every few days, and avoid waterlogging in the soil.

3. Hanging Herb Basket

Doesn't the idea below look very charming? It is actually made from some wooden shelves, hung directly by the window, and many herb plants are grown in it, including the common mint, oregano and lemon balm.

The making method is also very simple. First, you need to prepare enough materials, namely a pencil, a tape measure, a drill bit, hemp rope, herb plants, potting soil, perlite and flower pots.

After properly cutting the wooden boards, use a pencil and tape measure to make some marks on the boards, and then you can drill holes. You can drill some larger holes so that the hemp rope can pass through.

Then thread the hemp rope through two wooden boards. The length of the hemp rope should also be measured with a tape measure. Thread it through the wooden boards, and tie some dead knots at the lower end, so that the wooden boards can be fixed.

Then place the potted plants on some trays, which looks fresher. Appropriate perlite should be used in the soil to ensure good drainage. Some waterproof pots are also used here. Put some plastic bottles directly over the waterproof pots, and some perlite should also be laid at the bottom of the waterproof pots.

Finally, just hang the hemp rope threaded through the wooden boards directly on the curtain rack. This idea looks very simple, but in actual operation you need to pay attention to some details. The most important thing is to measure the length well.
