More and more flower lovers are growing Clivia. The flowers are large and brightly colored, and even when it is not blooming, the leaves are glossy green, wide and thick. Influenced by the traditional Chinese ideal of the junzi (gentleman), Clivia is noble and elegant and can show a person's taste, so many people grow it, and you should also pay attention to some small care tips.

What to do if Clivia won't grow

Clivia grows slowly. Many flower lovers hope it can grow a bit faster, and this requires proper daily watering and light, plus attention to fertilizing. Master the principle of light, frequent feeding, and fertilize regularly with organic fertilizers such as chicken manure, and Clivia can grow stronger.

Then again, although some flower lovers know that organic fertilizer works well, organic fertilizer has a strong smell. When this happens, flower lovers should master some alternative methods. You can bury some decomposed soybean residue, which can supplement nitrogen and help Clivia grow leaves without burning the roots.

How to prepare decomposed soybeans

Wash the soybeans and soak them in water for 2 hours, then steam or boil them. Then put the soybeans into a mineral water bottle, fill it with water, and place it in a cool place to ferment for half a month. You can add some orange peel to reduce the unpleasant smell during fermentation.

Then take out the soybeans that were decomposed half a month ago and set them aside. Dig a small hole 5-8 cm deep at the edge of the Clivia pot, away from the roots, then put in just 3-5 decomposed soybeans, and do not water that day; you can water the next day.

Using decomposed soybeans to grow Clivia, you can apply fertilizer once every two months. After 3-5 months, you will find the Clivia leaves growing like crazy, and the leaves will be even glossier and greener than before, and you will have grown your Clivia well.
