Moss rose, Chinese rose, and the common kalanchoe basically all rely on cuttings for propagation and growth. Gardeners generally like to take cuttings from branches themselves, usually mixing up some nutrient soil and fermenting a bit of organic fertilizer, but whether the flowers can survive as cuttings depends most of all on the cutting medium - that is, whether the common nutrient soil is up to standard.

Taking cuttings of moss rose

Moss rose is a common balcony flower, and cuttings root fairly easily. It needs to be kept in loose, breathable soil rich in humus, and this kind of soil is called leaf mold.

Leaf mold contains a large amount of humus. Leaf mold accumulated from fallen leaves in dark, damp environments has ample nutrients. You can then use leaf mold for cuttings, so it stays loose and breathable. When taking cuttings you do not need to add fertilizer either - water once, and the nutrients in the leaf mold will let the moss rose bloom beautifully.

Taking cuttings of Chinese rose

When taking cuttings of Chinese rose, you can add some rooting powder to the base of the cutting, so that after planting the Chinese rose can root as quickly as possible, and the survival rate can also be raised.

Taking cuttings of kalanchoe

Taking cuttings of kalanchoe is the same as taking cuttings of Chinese rose. As a typical balcony flower, kalanchoe has a long flowering period, and besides stem cuttings you can also propagate it from leaf cuttings. You can cut a robust, plump leaf off from the petiole, then wait until the wound dries, and insert it at an angle or lay it on leaf mold, so that it can root in about 10 days.

Gardeners now have a certain understanding of taking cuttings of Chinese rose, moss rose, and kalanchoe, right? In normal times, master the correct cutting methods, pay attention to fertile soil, and water thoroughly, and the flowers will bloom beautifully!
