When growing succulents, give them a squeeze like this, and I will teach you to accurately "judge" when to water, making your succulents stronger!

Most people judge whether a succulent needs water based on whether the surface soil has dried out. However, if you decide when to water only by telling whether the soil is dry or not, that is actually not comprehensive. Today let's talk about a more accurate method for judging whether a succulent needs water.

1. Mature plants and old clumps

For judging whether a succulent needs watering, today we give different categories. First are mature succulents and old clumps; for these we can use the relatively simple method of squeezing the leaves.

If you see that the succulent's leaves have shriveled, or you squeeze a leaf and find it feels rather soft, or it has simply wilted, then it is time to water. However, when squeezing, you must not use too much force, to avoid causing harm to the succulent.

2. Leaf cuttings and small seedlings

Unlike mature plants and old clumps, which are relatively stable, leaf-cutting succulents and small seedlings are in the growth stage, so their thirst for water may be relatively greater. Therefore, when watering leaf cuttings and small seedling succulents, you can use time to judge.

Usually, giving water once a week is not much of a problem, and watering thoroughly is also fine.

3. Watering

How should you water? Actually, many friends do it wrong too. The correct way to give water is to water gradually and thoroughly along the roots from the inside outward, until water seeps out of the drainage hole at the bottom of the flowerpot, and the best time to water should be at night or in the evening when ventilation is good.

Some friends like to use a spray bottle to mist water. Here we must remind everyone to be sure to blow off the water droplets on the leaves or absorb them with a tissue, and you must not immediately move the flowerpot into the sun to dry.

Here we also need to remind some beginner friends: absolutely do not water your succulents often just because you cannot resist. If you are not sure about the timing, then better to err on the side of less than more, otherwise your succulents will definitely develop all kinds of problems.
