Autumn has arrived, and the little succulent babies that have been dormant all summer are beginning to slowly wake up and return to their own growth rhythm. So many succulent lovers are also starting to pick up new plants to fill their empty balconies.

If you want to seize autumn, the best time for succulent growth, to let your succulents plump up a full size bigger and show their most beautiful side, you can try using these 4 things when mixing soil and repotting your succulents, and they will bring you unexpected results!

1. Bone meal

September is exactly the season of vigorous growth for succulents, and normal watering and fertilizing are fine, but do not apply concentrated fertilizer. Bone meal not only contains rich calcium and phosphorus, but can also slowly release its nutrients, making it the most suitable base fertilizer for succulents. You can wash pork bones, fish bones and chicken bones clean, dry them in the sun and crush them, then sprinkle them directly on the surface of the potting soil, or mix them into the soil and they will take effect.

2. Walnut shells and eggshells

Many flower lovers know that eggshells can be added to a succulent's pot, but what they do not realize is that eggshells and walnut shells used together are the best combination. Walnut shells are large and hard, and placing them at the bottom of the flower pot can effectively prevent the soil and fertilizer in the pot from leaking out; eggshells are small and relatively soft, and after being crushed they can be mixed evenly with the soil or sprinkled on the surface of the potting soil to provide more ample nutrients for the succulents.

3. Coal cinders and brick granules

Coal cinders and brick granules are both good loose and breathable materials, especially for relatively deep flower pots. After smashing bricks and coal briquettes, rinse away the dust with water, soak them in potassium permanganate to disinfect, and then they can be placed directly at the bottom of the pot; they have a very good water-absorbing effect and can effectively prevent root rot and black rot caused by excessive water accumulation.

4. Slow-release fertilizer and nutrient solution

By autumn most succulents have also entered their growing season, and the nutrients they consume are far greater than usual, so a certain amount of fertilizer needs to be supplemented. If you do not want to change the soil, you can use chopsticks to poke a few holes in the flower pot, then put a few granules of slow-release fertilizer in, or add nutrient solution to it, and in this way you can supplement nutrients for the succulents.

If the soil needs to be changed, be sure to change it in time; do not be lazy and skip it. When changing, you can mix the slow-release fertilizer evenly with the soil, then add the nutrient solution. Note: both the nutrient solution and the slow-release fertilizer should be added when repotting, because the first three substances need a certain process to take effect, while the nutrient solution and slow-release fertilizer act quickly and can provide nutrients in time during the succulent's growing season.

That is all for today's sharing, and I hope it can help all you succulent lovers!
