More and more people are growing flowers and plants at home these days, and of course, quite a few plant lovers also like to grow fruit trees or vegetables in pots on the balcony. Actually, no matter what you grow in a pot, it's a lot of fun - it beautifies your home and lifts the mood of the grower. Speaking of potted plants, which kind is best to grow? If you're used to growing pothos and spider plants, then let's try something different! How about growing "fruit pits" in pots? Fruit pits are a common kitchen waste - usually after eating fruit, you just toss them out. But if you bury them in a flower pot, they'll grow into small potted plants!

1. Pomelo potted plant

Pomelo is a fairly common fruit. After washing its pits, soak them in water for 3 days and wait for them to sprout; once they've sprouted, you can transplant them straight into a flower pot. When soaking, note that you need to change the water once a day - this gives a higher sprouting rate. Also, for the soil in the pot, it's best to make your own: just mix some leaf mold with garden soil. When sowing pomelo, remember to point the small end upward - don't plant them the wrong way round, or they won't grow. After planting as shown in the picture above, you can also cover them with a few small pebbles. Once all this is done, water every two or three days, and in 1 month they'll have grown into small potted plants!

2. Longan potted plant

Longan is also a fruit we eat often, and its seeds are fairly large, so it's easy to grow. After removing the longan seeds, just press them directly into nutrient soil with the small end up, as shown in the picture above. One thing to watch when growing a longan potted plant is watering. You need to water fairly often - it's best to spray some water in every day, which helps with sprouting and rooting.

3. Dragon fruit potted plant

After eating a dragon fruit, remove the seeds, rinse them once, and then you can scatter them in the pot. When caring for a dragon fruit potted plant, pay attention to light and watering. First, the light must not be too strong - in the early stage, it's best to keep it under weak, indirect light, and once the plant has grown to about 15 cm, you can move it to the balcony. As for watering, it's different from other fruit-pit potted plants: you can't water too often, because if the potting soil is too wet, it will cause root rot.

The picture above shows pomelo pits that, after a month of care, have grown into a lush little potted plant. The main reason I recommend growing fruit pits is that it's a lot of fun, and I'm sure plant lovers won't object either. Growing plants is also about nurturing the mind - as long as you put in the care, you can grow anything well. That's all for the tips on growing fruit pits in pots. Besides fruit pits, you can also pot up sprouting vegetables from your daily life - for example, sprouted potatoes, sweet potatoes, sprouted ginger, and so on.
