Yesterday, a friend sent April a few pictures, along with a string of both-laughing-and-crying emojis. It turns out the Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon, and their workplace was giving out benefits: three boxes of mooncakes per person.

It was supposed to be a happy occasion, but when the friend opened them, every mooncake was rock hard enough to kill someone. They were very likely leftovers from last year, just repackaged.

Eating mooncakes during the Mid-Autumn Festival is a tradition of several thousand years in China, symbolizing reunion and completeness, but the mooncakes we eat have become harder and harder to swallow, long having lost their original meaning.

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is almost here again. Have you bought this year's mooncakes yet?

May we all be blessed with longevity

Flower Banquet Mooncakes

Time really flies. Before I knew it, it was September. The coolness of autumn arrives, and once again it is the season when osmanthus fragrance fills the air.

In April's memory, osmanthus is always tied to family reunion.

As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, the whole family often sits around the osmanthus tree in the yard. The elders drink tea and chat, while the children chase each other and play, sneaking snacks like little gluttons.

Drinking tea and admiring flowers must be paired with delicious snacks.Besides homemade osmanthus cake, the one thing that absolutely cannot be missing is mooncakes, which symbolize reunion~

In recent years, there have been no shortage of all kinds of trendy internet-famous mooncakes, like durian-filled ones and ice cream-filled ones. Although they are very novel, their appearance and taste are more like Western desserts, lacking the charm and depth of traditional mooncakes.

Some mooncakes have simply given up entirely, crudely made with poor taste, relying completely on fancy packaging to carry the show. But those red-and-green gift boxes are ugly too. If you gave them as a gift, the recipient would probably turn their nose up at them, right?

April was puzzled. As the centerpiece of the Mid-Autumn Festival, could there really be no mooncake thatinsists on carrying forward ancient charm, values both appearance and taste, and suits all ages?

Until recently, a colleague recommended a mooncake to April, made intothe shapes of 9 traditional Chinese flowers, even using 3D printing technology to turn the mooncakes into works of art, exquisite and wonderfully crafted.

9 mooncakes of different colors and shapes, corresponding respectively to 9 flower patterns and 9 blessings.

Osmanthus, camellia, lotus, azalea, chrysanthemum, plum blossom, narcissus, peony, orchid, with clear outlines and three-dimensional blooms, exquisitely made like relief sculptures. You really cannot bear to bite into them.

More importantly, different flowers have different meanings, conveying warm affection. Eat it and it warms your heart.

Osmanthus

Osmanthus is an evergreen tree or shrub in the genus Osmanthus,

with small, finely clustered petals and a fragrance that carries far,

blooming snow-white and turning golden yellow as it withers.

Since ancient times it has been used for brewing wine, making tea, and making pastries,

a flower whose grace has not diminished through thousands of years of history.

But in April's heart,

osmanthus symbolizes traditional romance.

It is the legend of "Chang'e flying to the moon, Wu Gang felling the osmanthus tree,"

the golden rain of osmanthus in September,

the sweetness of Mom making osmanthus cake with glutinous rice.

Osmanthus mooncake has a ginger, jujube and longan filling with a fresh osmanthus lava center,

inheriting and improving on the traditional flavor,

warm, sweet and glutinous ginger and jujube,

wrapping a pool of clear, moist lava filling,

with fresh osmanthus flowers clearly visible,

one bite and it is full of the taste of autumn osmanthus fragrance.

Camellia

Camellia blooms at the turn of winter and spring,

with layer upon layer of round, lovely petals.

When all things are covered in ice and snow,

only the camellia blooms proudly,

bringing people warmth and hope.

Even when a camellia withers,

it falls petal by petal,

full of lingering attachment and reluctance to leave the world,

so it is often used as a token between lovers,

expressing reluctant, lingering love.

The camellia mooncake uses food 3D printing technology,

lifelike as a real flower.

Consort's Drunken Moon fillingmainly made with egg yolk, pork floss and sesame,

a traditional flavor, salty and richly fragrant,

paired with a cup of sweet oolong tea,

salty and sweet blend together, a wonderful taste melting on the taste buds.

Peony

If the plant world elected a king of ten thousand flowers,

the elegant and luxurious peony would deserve it without question.

"Only the peony is truly national beauty,

when it blooms, the whole capital stirs."

Layer upon layer of stacked petals,

dazzling, eye-catching colors,

such a bold and luxurious flower,

how could it not attract people's affection?

The peony mooncake's presence cannot fall short either,

cheddar cheese full of concentrated sweetness and fragrance,

paired with the classic custard lava center,

this is simply a version bursting with happiness!

Pair with a cup of Oriental Beauty tea,

letting the sweet, mellow tea balance the richness of the cheese.

Azalea

Azalea is also a traditional famous Chinese flower.

Because it often blooms across mountains and plains,

gorgeous like a wildfire sweeping the land,

it is also called yingshanhong or mountain pomegranate.

Azaleas have more than 900 varieties.

Their bright red color implies good fortune and beauty,

and their clusters of blooms also carry blessings of prosperity and smoothness.

The azalea mooncake is a girly pale pink,

with a crystal-clear Taiwanese pineapple filling, full of jelly-like texture,

one bite is all sweet-and-sour fruit fragrance.

What is wonderful is thatsalted egg yolk sand is added to the filling,,

and the soft, glutinous, salty and fragrant texture is irresistible.

Orchid

Orchid is also a traditional flower with a long history,

with very rich varieties,

and later all kinds of diverse shapes were cultivated,

making one dazzled.

The orchid has long been known as the gentleman of flowers,

elegant and free, transcendent and refined,

symbolizing noble character and keeping away from the worldly.

Inside the orchid mooncake is

a rich chocolate filling,

hiding large pieces of nuts within,

the mellowness of chocolate paired with the fresh fragrance of nuts,

this is why this classic has endured and never declined~

Chrysanthemum

Whether ancient literati and scholars,

or modern floral designers,

all are very fond of the passionate, brilliant chrysanthemum.

White is pure, yellow is elegant, red is rich,

the layered, full petals are very eye-catching,

wherever it is placed, it is the star.

Chrysanthemums bloom in the season when autumn is at its deepest,

the last flower to bloom before winter arrives.

It conveys the longing in people's hearts,

often used for climbing high and gazing afar, remembering the departed.

On the milky-white mooncake is set a flourishing chrysanthemum,

but the filling isRich chocolate,

slowly melts in the mouth, with a sweet that unfolds layer by layer,

mixed with crunchy chocolate chips,

letting the tongue dissolve in an ocean of chocolate.

Plum blossom

When people mention the plum blossom,

the first thing they think of is its stubborn character.

In ice and snow, when all things fall silent,

only a single plum branch stands proud against the snow,

fearing neither wind nor frost, standing alone.

The four gentlemen: plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum,

each has its own spirit,

yet the plum blossom alone is the most steadfast,

daring to struggle against wind and snow.

But even if the outside is as strong as the plum blossom,

occasionally it also reveals a sweet heart.

The sweetness of crystalline sand dances in the mouth,

the chewy, supple texture of brown sugar mochi,

then a small sip of Pu'er tea, bitter at first and sweet in return,

cuts the grease and eases the richness, softening the sweetness.

Narcissus

Narcissus is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Amaryllidaceae family,

and prefers a warm, humid environment.

Its stems and leaves are straight and upright, like a sword drawn from its sheath,

and its flowers are pure white, symbolizing innocence and nobility.

At every festival and celebration,

we place a pot of narcissus in the home,

with fresh flowers and vigorous growth,

carrying the meaning of longing and reunion.

The narcissus mooncake is also mainly pure white,

made with selected Hokkaido milk and custard yogurt,

within the mellow flavor of pure natural milk,

a hint of playful sweet-and-sour emerges,

with a delicate texture like milk cubes.

Lotus

The ancients all praised the nobility of the summer lotus,

rising from the mud unstained, bathed in clear water yet not coquettish,

but I alone love the lotus of autumn,

for although only withered lotus remains in the pond,

it can still nurture plump lotus roots and lotus seeds,

letting the farmer savor the joy of harvest.

The lotus mooncake also shows both sides of the lotus.

With a pale green crust, a single lotus stands out,

the matcha filling has a refreshing, unique taste,

and each red bean carries the sweet fragrance of harvest,

the matcha lava flows over the tip of the tongue,

a heart-stirring moment is nothing more than this.

One box of mooncakes, 9 kinds of flowers, 9 kinds of flavors, rich fillings, unique tastes. It keeps traditional flavors, such as salted egg yolk, longan and sesame, while also catering to flavors young people love, such as matcha, chocolate and yogurt, combining East and West, suitable for all ages, full of happiness~
