Growing flowers is really about growing roots; only when the root system is well cared for can the plant grow better. Because of the limits of the pot, potted flowers at home do not have such abundant nutrients in the soil, so fertilizing becomes especially important. Only with sufficient nutrients can the leaves of the flowers be greener and the blooms more vivid.

1. Soybeans

For common foliage plants at home such as pothos, snake plant, and spider plant, nitrogen fertilizer suits them quite well. Nitrogen fertilizer can promote the growth of roots, stems, and leaves. The most common nitrogen fertilizer material in daily life is soybeans. Soak some moldy or shriveled soybeans for a few hours, then put them in clean water and boil them.

After boiling, you can directly dig a hole at the edge of the pot soil, put a few soybeans in, and cover them lightly with soil. Soybeans are rich in nitrogen fertilizer, so this can make them grow more and more vigorously. Besides using them this way, you can also crush the boiled soybeans, put them in a plastic bottle with water, and leave them in the sun to ferment naturally. After fermentation, they can be diluted with water and used to water flowers with very good results.

2. Urea

Agricultural urea fertilizer has a very high nitrogen content, and its method of use is also relatively simple. Dig a few holes at the edge of the flowerpot, put a few grains of urea in, and then cover them well. This can provide sufficient nitrogen fertilizer for the flowers. Generally, flowers and plants in the growth period are quite suitable for it, but during bud formation, nitrogen fertilizer needs to be reduced and phosphorus-potassium fertilizer used more, as this can promote flowering.

3. Sunflower seeds

This method is quite suitable for clivia. Clivia really likes oil-bearing crops. When repotting clivia, you can put a few sunflower seeds in the bottom of the pot, then cover them with a thick layer of soil, and after that just pot the clivia. Peanuts and sunflower seeds both count as oil-bearing crops. After clivia uses them, the root system can grow rapidly and soon fill the pot.

4. Pine needles

Caring for orchids is a technical job, and most people cannot grow them well. People who can grow orchids well are masters. If you want to grow orchid roots well, you need to ensure the potting soil is loose and breathable. When mixing the soil, you can add more pine needle soil. When the soil is loose and breathable, orchids are less likely to suffer root rot, and the orchid root system can also grow white and plump.
