Is the Golden Little Prodigy orchid a Cymbidium ensifolium? What about its price and fragrance?
Golden Little Prodigy is also known as Golden Prodigy Crown, Little Golden Prodigy, and Yellow Flower Pure Heart Orchid. It is a sympodial terrestrial orchid, a hybrid. It belongs to a variety of Cymbidium ensifolium. It is currently a common hybrid orchid variety on the orchid market. Its distribution range extends from Japan and South Korea in the north, through China, Taiwan, China, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia, and south to Australia and New Guinea; it has also been found on the island of Madagascar in Africa. It is mainly produced in the tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, and the price is 20 yuan to 50 yuan per seedling.

This variety of Golden Little Prodigy combines the advantages of its parent Cymbidium hybridum and Cymbidium ensifolium (Four Seasons Orchid); mature plants grow in clumps; the pseudobulbs are ovoid and enclosed within the sheaths at the leaf bases. The flowers are larger than those of ordinary Chinese orchid varieties, and the flower color is a bright yellow. Because the entire flower has no stray colors, it is also called “Yellow Flower Pure Heart”. The fragrance is light, and it blooms very frequently; it can bloom all year round, making it a very famous variety among Cymbidium ensifolium. According to chromosome number and karyotype analysis, its lineage contains 50% Cymbidium ensifolium (Cym. ensifolium), 31.25% Cymbidium hybridum (Cym. Enid Haupt), 12.5% Cymbidium insigne (Cym. insigne), and 6.25% Cymbidium eburneum (Cym. eburneum).
