Autumn is here, prune your plants at home and they will bloom even more
Plants like Chinese roses, Christmas cacti, and jasmine can all have their branches pruned in autumn, because in many cases these flowering plants do not bloom profusely due to a care problem, but because some branches grow too long and absorb more nutrients, causing uneven growth of the whole pot of flowers. So below, Huahua will tell everyone how to prune these 3 kinds of flowers!
1. Chinese rose
The Chinese rose is a flower we often see along the roadside, and generally, if nothing goes wrong, it can bloom in all four seasons. Chinese rose buds are large and strongly fragrant, and keeping them at home is truly very pleasing to the eye. However, although Chinese roses live outdoors for a long time, they still could not escape the battering of summer's high heat. Now that autumn has come, it is time for us to prune their flowering branches. This will not only look more beautiful but also let them bloom even more!
When pruning Chinese rose branches, people generally choose some relatively robust branches, and the cutting position is about 0.5cm above the middle bud. This can both shape the plant and leave relatively healthy bud points. If the branches of your Chinese rose still have spent flowers, be careful to cut off the spent flowers at this time to avoid them absorbing too many nutrients and causing uneven growth of the whole Chinese rose plant.
2. Jasmine
Jasmine has pure white buds and a fresh fragrance, making it a flowering plant very suitable for growing at home. Although jasmine's flowering period is concentrated in summer, if we prune its flowering branches in autumn and add some nutrients, it can definitely bloom for another round.
Jasmine branches are generally pruned according to two situations. The first is when the jasmine buds have finished blooming; as with the Chinese rose, the spent flowers need to be pruned off, so as to ensure the nutrients needed when other jasmine buds grow afterward. The second is when some jasmine branches grow leggy and do not bloom; at this time we need to prune the overly long flowering branches, otherwise the longer the flowering branches grow, the more nutrients they absorb, and the jasmine will be even less likely to bloom.
3. Bougainvillea
Bougainvillea has very vigorous growth, and when its flowering period arrives, it can cover the entire branches with blooms. Although bougainvillea buds are relatively small, they bloom densely, and from a distance it is a scene of a mass of blooming flowers, very beautiful. However, after bougainvillea has grown for a long time, it will feel messy, with branches and leaves growing every which way. At this time, we need to step in and give it a "haircut."
The pruning method for bougainvillea is relatively simple. You only need to cut short the longer branches in the pot. This not only looks much more beautiful but also increases the amount of blooming because nutrients are distributed evenly!
Now, while the weather is cool, quickly give the plants and flowers at home a trim. Then, when the flowering period comes, you will be able to see the scene of flowers covering the branches!
