Third Market Summer Cultural and Creative Shopping Festival: Schoolchildren Unleash Their Creativity to Draw Market Scenes
To make the traditional market friendlier and closer to families with children, the Taichung City Economic Development Bureau held a little artist on-site painting event yesterday (the 9th) at the Third Market, inviting 15 students from Guoguang Elementary School to take part. The children used their unique childlike charm and creative ideas to draw the special scenes of the market as they saw them, and the paintings are subsequently planned to be exhibited at the market.
The Taichung City Economic Development Bureau said the event began with a market tour, led by Huang Baoxian, chairman of the Third Market Autonomous Committee, who guided the children to visit the market's distinctive spots. Through greetings and introductions with the vendors, they learned about the history and culture of the Third Market, the goods sold in a traditional market, and its unique warmth of human connection.
During the event, the children focused on wielding their brushes and colors, while parents watched the creative process from the sidelines. Judging and an awards ceremony followed immediately after the event ended, with prizes awarded for first, second and third place, 3 honorable mentions, and selected-entry awards.
The Taichung City Economic Development Bureau said that through the series of events under the "Third Market Summer Cultural and Creative Shopping Festival," it hopes to attract people to walk into the market, let market shopping and cultural and creative features take root and thrive in the market, and strengthen the Third Market's brand positioning as a cultural and creative market.
