Bonsai appreciation brings endless joy, cultivates character, and lets you face life with a smile
[Bonsai Enthusiast Reflections]
Text | Xiamen, Fujian @Zhou Yingzhi
Even a nameless flower can bloom into a breathtaking scene in a barren land; even a lowly blade of grass can spread out lush green. Accept gains with calm, let go of losses with ease, follow nature's course, and strive for what is meant to be. Find peace in time, grow old through the years. In life, just follow nature's course, and a peaceful heart brings happiness naturally. Living in this world, we need to constantly dust off our souls, through self-reflection, self-awakening, and self-respect.
Zheng Zhilin's new bonsai work - Variegated Star Jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides 'Variegatum')
Life is no more than thirty thousand days; coming is by chance, going is certain, and when the time comes to let go, everything drifts away like smoke; life is but a few short decades, so don't cling too much to pride and suffer needlessly; don't cling too much to money and toil endlessly; when dark clouds block the sun, wait a while and the sky will clear, and sunlight will surely come; when misunderstandings swirl around your ears, bear with it and harmony returns, and they will surely dissipate like smoke; when others argue with you, yield a little and it passes, for those who understand you need no explanation; we come into this world for one journey: whether happy or troubled, clear-headed or confused, nothing is better than a smile; smile at the wind, smile at the rain, smile at the vicissitudes, smile at life.
