Lucky bamboo carries the meaning of blooming flowers and prosperity, so keeping a pot of lucky bamboo at home can improve the feng shui of your home. So how do you care for lucky bamboo?

Whether we grow lucky bamboo in soil or in water, when taking cuttings we need to be careful to protect its roots. When growing it in water, the leaves near the roots should be trimmed, which can effectively extend the growing time of the lucky bamboo. Likewise, when we clean the root system, we should look carefully and remove the roots that have already rotted or are about to rot. Don't be reluctant to part with them, because these roots not only hinder the plant's growth but may also make our lucky bamboo grow poorly.

So when growing it in water, how should the water level be controlled? When we keep lucky bamboo in a vase, the water should not be too much; generally about two-thirds full is enough. Then we should not let the water cover the leaves, as this makes the leaves prone to rotting, which will affect the growth of the whole plant. Also, be careful to change the water often. In spring and autumn, you can do it at any time; in summer, avoid the high temperatures at noon. At noon we can mist to cool it down. In winter, change the water at noon when the temperature is higher, which can prevent the water from being too cold and frostbiting the plant.

Hydroponic lucky bamboo also needs a certain amount of light, because some friends find that when it is placed in a corner of the living room for a long time, the lucky bamboo tends to develop yellow leaves. This is mostly caused by a lack of sunlight, because without enough sunlight for a long time, the photosynthesis of the lucky bamboo weakens, and over time the chlorophyll also decreases, which naturally makes it hard to manage.

We can generally choose 1-2 days of good weather and put it on the balcony. It does not need direct sunlight; dappled light is enough. Five or six hours of sun a day is just fine.

Some friends ask whether hydroponic lucky bamboo still needs fertilizing. Actually, it is very much needed. We do not have to use nitrogen fertilizer; we can use nutrient solution instead, since that is also a fertilizer. Properly adding some nutrient solution to the lucky bamboo can make the plant grow more healthily, and its own resistance will also be somewhat stronger, reducing pests and diseases.

These are the points to note about hydroponic lucky bamboo. Did you all get them? Hydroponic lucky bamboo is relatively clean, and it is simple and easy to keep alive, but if you want to grow it for a long time, you need to put in a little extra thought.
