The first growing method:

Soak the purchased asparagus seeds in warm water for 4 days, changing the water twice a day, so the seeds can drink their fill, then mix in sand or vermiculite, cover with a wet towel, and you can start germination. Once the asparagus shows white sprouts, you can sow them in the soil to grow!

Cultivation:

The suitable temperature for asparagus seeds to germinate is 25°C. After germination, when the seedlings grow to 25 cm, they can be transplanted into a vegetable pot. The depth of the vegetable pot is best at 25 cm, and the potting soil is best made of sand, pond mud, leaf mold, and decomposed fertilizer!

Harvesting:

After asparagus is harvested once, it can continue to grow. After harvesting asparagus for one year, it will continue to grow the next year. Especially when it reaches the fourth or fifth year, it is the peak production period, and it can produce a lot of asparagus.

The second growing method:

Growing from crowns:

The second growing method is to grow asparagus from its crowns. This method is simple, and the asparagus grown this way has a fast growth cycle. But when preparing the flower pot in the early stage, it is best to choose a large, deep pot for planting!

Key planting points:

When planting asparagus, it is very tolerant of low and high temperatures, so there is no need to worry that too low or too high a temperature will have any other effect on it; it will grow well anyway. When planting asparagus, whether sowing seeds or growing from crowns, the base fertilizer must be sufficient. You can use some sandy soil, pond mud, and organic fertilizer as base fertilizer!

When the branches and leaves of asparagus grow to 70 cm, you can pinch off the growing tips and top them, so it can grow more solid and thick!

After planting, be sure to place the asparagus in a ventilated place, pay attention to keeping the soil slightly moist, and also avoid water accumulation in the pot, so as to prevent root rot caused by lack of oxygen!

The harvest time for asparagus is around May each year. You can use a small knife to cut off the tender stem part of the asparagus. It is best to leave two stalks on each plant.
