The Complete Guide to Home Gardening
Teacher Xiao Ye teaches you all kinds of gardening knowledge!
Beer
Don't throw away leftover beer at home. Beer is an excellent kind of fertilizer. Dilute it with water and wipe your plants with it, and your flowers are guaranteed to be emerald green and glossy!
Principle:
Beer is brewed from grain and wheat. After fermentation, beer contains rich B vitamins, phosphates and sugars, and these nutrients are very beneficial to the growth of flowers! Beer also contains carbon dioxide, and carbon dioxide is essential for photosynthesis, which can boost the metabolism of flowers and make the leaves even glossier!
Method:
1. If the beer concentration is too high, it will contain too much sugar. It is recommended to dilute the beer and clean water at a ratio of 1:10 before use!
2. Dip a clean cloth in the beer solution and gently wipe the leaves to achieve an effect similar to top dressing. This method is very suitable for clivia (Clivia miniata), pothos (Epipremnum aureum), money tree (Pachira aquatica) and so on!
3. You can also pour the beer solution into a spray bottle and spray it onto the leaves! The same effect can be achieved!
Rice vinegar
Besides beer, the rice vinegar commonly found in the kitchen can also be used to care for flowers~
Principle:
Rice vinegar is rich in nutrients such as amino acids, organic acids and vitamin B1. Leaves wiped with rice vinegar will be greener and shinier!
Method:
1. Rice vinegar is acidic, so mix and dilute the rice vinegar and clean water at a ratio of 1:1000, then dip a clean cloth in the rice vinegar solution and gently wipe both sides of the leaves, and finally spray with clean water once to rinse them clean!
2. You can also pour the rice vinegar solution into a spray bottle and spray the leaves, which can achieve the same effect!
Banana peel
There is another very common thing, banana peel. Leftover banana peels can also be used to care for flowers!
Principle:
Banana peels are rich in nutrients such as potassium and phosphorus, which can make the leaves increasingly glossy, and banana peels also contain rich oils, and these oils can absorb dust and dirt from the leaves. This is very suitable for the growth of flowers!
Method:
Banana peels can be used directly to wipe the leaves, or you can cut the banana peels into small pieces, add water and put them in a bottle, place them in a sunny spot to compost for 1-2 months, then mix the fertilizer and water at a ratio of 1:50 and spray it onto the leaf surface. This can supply nutrients to your green plants and make the leaves emerald green!
Plant ash
The plant ash left after burning can be used directly as flower fertilizer, and the flowers will grow especially well.
Principle:
Plant ash is the residue left after plants are burned. This ash is rich in potassium fertilizer and minerals, which provide great help for the growth of flowers.
Method:
1. Put the plant ash and clean water together at a ratio of 1:10, stir thoroughly and let it sit for a day. After the plant ash settles, take the solution from above!
2. Pour the plant ash solution into a spray bottle and spray it onto the leaves. It can not only supplement fertilizer for the flowers, but also make the leaves emerald green and glossy, and it even helps extend the flowering period!
3. Plant ash can also prevent aphid pests on plants. This is because plant ash is alkaline and can block the breathing holes of aphids, causing them to suffocate and die. So plant ash has the effects of both fertilizing and killing pests!
