Peace Lily Growing Methods and Care Tips

The peace lily, also known as Spathiphyllum or spathe lily (we also call it "smooth sailing" because the peace lily has a white spathe that looks like a sail), is a perennial evergreen herbaceous foliage plant of the genus Spathiphyllum in the Araceae family.
Propagation
Peace lilies can be propagated by division and sowing. Vigorous plants can be divided about once every two years, generally in spring when repotting or after autumn.
Soil
The soil should be loose, with good drainage and aeration; heavy clay soil must not be used. Generally, a substrate can be made by mixing leaf mold and peat soil with a small amount of perlite.
Fertilizing
When planting, add a small amount of farmyard manure as a base fertilizer. Because it grows and divides very quickly and has a relatively large nutrient demand, liquid fertilizer must be applied once every 1-2 weeks during the growing season.
Water
At the same time, it must be supplied with sufficient water, and the potting soil should be kept moist at all times. During high-temperature periods, water should also be sprayed frequently on the leaves and the ground to increase air humidity. If the surrounding environment is too dry, new leaves become smaller and turn yellow, and in severe cases even wither, turn yellow and drop off.
Watering
In late autumn and winter, the amount of watering should be reduced, keeping the potting soil slightly moist. It requires semi-shaded conditions, and during the growing season it must be shaded at 60%-70%.
