Add a little something when watering the money tree (Pachira aquatica): no yellow leaves, no root rot, and vigorous new growth

The money tree (Pachira aquatica) is a fairly common potted plant, and the ones we grow often easily develop yellow leaves, root rot, and leaf spot disease, most of which is related to improper watering. So how should we usually water them to avoid these problems?
First, the money tree is fairly drought-tolerant. As we know, its trunk is quite thick and can store some water and nutrients to supply the growth of the branches and leaves. When its trunk becomes soft, that is the time it lacks water, and you can water it directly. After watering, place it in a ventilated spot to cool for a while,
We can also use a simple method: insert a bamboo skewer into the money tree's pot, and whenever you want to water, pull it out and take a look. If it is moist, there is no need to water; if the bamboo skewer is dry, you can water it. This way you can control the watering of the money tree and avoid root rot.
The second point is that the money tree's root system is not well developed. The money trees we buy are all grown in small pots; even large money trees are kept in very small pots, because they have no main root to absorb nutrients and no strong absorption capacity. Only when its soil is loose and breathable can its roots spread out and absorb more nutrients. So when growing a money tree, do not use a large pot, to avoid water accumulation, damage to the fibrous roots, and the resulting root rot.
The money tree does not like fertilizer, but if it grows in a pot for a long time, since the soil in the pot is originally small, it will also lack nutrients, so we should properly supplement fertilizer. Because its root system is not well developed, when supplementing fertilizer we must use some slower-release fertilizer. You can add a few drops of nutrient solution or put some slow-release fertilizer in the pot; when watering, the fertilizer will seep in along with the water, and there will be no root burn.
