Aglaia odorata (mock lime) is a fairly easy potted plant to grow. Its flowering period is quite long, blooming from April-May to December each year, and it only stops flowering when the weather turns cold. Keeping one at home, its flowers are quite fragrant, making it a favorite potted plant for many people. So how should you normally grow Aglaia odorata well?

1. Plenty of sunlight

Aglaia odorata is quite fond of sunlight. Because it is a flowering plant, and many flowering plants prefer plenty of light, which makes it easier for the flowers to open. So normally we place it in a spot at home with good light. In summer it can be appropriately shaded, but in the other seasons it should be given plenty of sunlight, which can increase its flowering amount.

2. Slightly acidic soil

Aglaia odorata is a plant from the south, fond of loose, breathable, fertile, slightly acidic soil. You can use peat soil, perlite and vermiculite in a 4:1:1 ratio, and you can mix one part pine needle soil into the prepared nutrient soil to adjust the soil's pH. During the normal growing season, give it ferrous sulfate once a month to supplement the iron element in the soil.

3. Don't let it lack water

Aglaia odorata likes a warm, humid environment, so the potting soil should not be short of water. When the surface of the potting soil is dry, water it thoroughly right away, and don't let it stay dry for long periods. When ventilation is good, spray water on the leaves to increase the air humidity around it.

4. Fertilizing

Aglaia odorata blooms continuously from May to December, so its nutrient consumption is relatively high. Normally we can give it fertilizer mainly based on phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, which can promote its flower bud differentiation and increase the flowering amount. Then each month also give it a multi-element compound fertilizer once to supplement the plant's growth, so its plant doesn't become thin and weak. Plant growth and flowering proceed at the same time, and there is enough fertility to supply its flowering.
