Datang Gongfen is currently regarded as the representative of the finest plain-flowered Jianlan (Cymbidium ensifolium), with lotus-petal-shaped flowers that are dignified and beautiful. It was dug up in the forest area of Rong County, Guangxi Province, by orchid farmer Mr. Xiao San in the early autumn of 2001, then purchased and cultivated by orchid enthusiast Mr. Liang Zhi, and later named by Professor Liu Qingyong; Datang Gongfen has stable flowering, good flower retention, a long flowering period, and a fresh, pleasant fragrance. It is said to be relatively easy to grow and is a famous variety among plain-flowered orchids that is worth collecting.

The fragrance of Datang Gongfen is not heavy; it is a fresh, light scent; it is a lotus-shaped narcissus-type plain flower, with thick fleshy outer three petals, mussel-shell-shaped petals, and a straight shoulder; the flower is medium-sized, and the overall flower shape is full and smooth, with the inflorescence arrangement evenly contrasted and upright; the flower stalk rises above the leaves, with 3-7 flowers per scape; the leaves are medium-sized and semi-pendulous, and the flower and leaf combination is well matched, making the whole plant very elegant. The color of the outer petals is tender green, while the center petals and lip are white. The flower color is pure, noble and icy-clear. It stands out among the plain-flowered four-season orchids and is extremely rare. Therefore, in terms of price, it is relatively expensive. It costs between 1200 yuan and 1400 yuan per seedling.
