China has always had the congratulatory saying "when flowers bloom, prosperity arrives; when bamboo is reported, peace prevails." Lucky bamboo has slender stems and leaves, graceful and elegant with a rich bamboo charm, so it is deeply loved by people. It is relatively easy to shape and has high ornamental value. However, lucky bamboo is prone to yellow leaves, dry tips, root rot and other problems, so attention needs to be paid to methods in daily care.

1. Care environment

Normally, lucky bamboo should be placed in a bright and ventilated spot indoors. The living room, study, windowsill and balcony are all good choices, but it must not receive direct sunlight. The placement position should be kept as far as possible from air conditioning vents and fan vents, as frequent blowing easily causes dry tips and yellow leaves on lucky bamboo.

The water used for hydroponic lucky bamboo cannot be tap water directly, as tap water contains chlorine and bleaching powder. Before use, it needs to be left to stand in light for about one day. Before lucky bamboo roots, the water needs to be changed about once a week to keep the water clean and prevent root rot.

2. Handling yellow leaves on lucky bamboo

Yellow leaves before rooting: newly purchased lucky bamboo has not yet rooted, so the plant's nutrients are insufficient and yellow leaves easily appear. When yellow leaves appear, promptly prune off the yellowing leaves. Generally, after lucky bamboo roots, it will no longer have yellow leaves.

The method to promote rooting in lucky bamboo is also very simple. Cut the base of the lucky bamboo at a 45-degree angle, which can increase the area for rooting. You can also apply rooting powder to the cut, or add two aspirin tablets to the water. Aspirin contains a certain amount of salicylic acid, which can help promote rooting.

Iron deficiency yellowing: when lucky bamboo lacks iron, yellowing of leaves is also likely to occur, generally showing as tender yellow leaves. Add a rusty iron nail to the hydroponic bottle; it can slowly release iron and help relieve the condition to some extent. Of course, if you think this method is too slow, you can also dilute ferrous sulfate and add it to the hydroponic bottle, which can quickly release iron.

3. Methods to promote growth

Lucky bamboo also needs fertilization. Generally, a dilute nutrient solution needs to be added about once every half a month, which can make it grow vigorously. Of course, the half-water half-soil method can make it grow even more vigorously. With both water and soil, nutrients are sufficient and growth is faster. Add some soil at the bottom of the hydroponic bottle, then a layer of coarse sand, and then add water. This does not affect the appearance and can promote growth.
