Hang this flower on the wall and it blooms into a waterfall; pinch off a bit and steep it in water to drink, and you won't get sick all year
Dendrobium varieties
1. Dendrobium officinale
When it comes to Dendrobium, the first one Huahua thinks of is Dendrobium officinale! Its medicinal value is extremely high, the petals are yellow, and the center of the flower carries a tiny bit of purplish red. Its blooming period is from March to June.
2. Dendrobium nobile
Dendrobium nobile is also a relatively common variety in our flower growing, with flowers in alternating white and purple, and a blooming period from April to May. For beginners who want to grow Dendrobium at home, Huahua suggests choosing Dendrobium nobile.
3. Dendrobium chrysotoxum
The stem of Dendrobium chrysotoxum is spindle-shaped, and the flowers are golden yellow. No matter how Huahua looks at it, it seems like a tree covered with egg yolks. Its blooming period is from March to May.
4. Dendrobium thyrsiflorum
The flowers of Dendrobium thyrsiflorum are all clustered on the inflorescence, hanging down one by one, with off-the-charts beauty. Look closely at each little flower, and it's like a little girl in a white dress dancing.
5. Dendrobium loddigesii
Dendrobium loddigesii is just like its name: the flowers are elegant, dainty and lovely, and once you fall in love with them, you'll never be able to stop.
6. Dendrobium kwangtungense
The flowers of Dendrobium kwangtungense are white, and when they bloom they give a feeling of being surrounded by ethereal fairy mist. Flower lovers who like a plain and elegant style must not miss it.
7. Dendrobium primulinum
The flowers of Dendrobium primulinum are purple with a pale white center, giving off an inexplicably adorable beauty.
Planting Dendrobium
1. We can choose pine bark and stone chunks. Place a layer of large stone chunks at the bottom of the flower pot, add large pieces of pine bark on top, spread out the Dendrobium's root system and place it on top, then press down the roots with small pieces of bark.
Be careful not to bury it too deep. As an aerial-root plant, burying it too deep affects root growth.
2. If you are a flower lover in the north, because the climate is relatively dry, Huahua recommends using sphagnum moss as the growing medium; otherwise, if you don't spray water in time, it's very easy for more than half of it to die off.
Because sphagnum moss has higher water absorption and moisture retention, we need to pay special attention when planting: the pot you choose must be small, and you must repeatedly press the sphagnum moss firmly to prevent water accumulation.
Dendrobium care
In daily care, we need to create a semi-shaded environment. You can place it under other large potted plants, with scattered light being best. Be careful to avoid direct sun exposure and provide plenty of ventilation.
When the growing medium still has thirty to forty percent moisture, you can water it! When using tap water to water flowers, be careful to let it sit for a few days before use. During the growing season, you can apply fertilizer appropriately; fermented sheep manure works well.
