The Mobao orchid, just like its name, has flowers of rich, deep, and dignified color. It was first discovered in Sichuan, and this orchid belongs to the Jianlan (Cymbidium ensifolium) type. It is a premium variety among Sichuan Jianlan. Its most distinctive feature is its flower color: the entire flower is deep red with a purple tinge, even black-red, which is rarely seen among Jianlan; the first time you see it, you might think it is a variety of Molan (Cymbidium sinense).

Mobao was selected by an orchid enthusiast from Emei in the field of an orchid farmer in Yingjiang Township of the same county, then named and promoted. The petal tips are relatively blunt, the leaves are mid-drooping, and the leaf surface is unusual in that it rises in wave-like patterns. The leaves are broad and thick, the leaf posture is elegant, the plant type is robust, the flowers are large and held above the leaves, and the flowers are deep purplish-red, with a very vivid and eye-catching color. It is the finest of the fine among the colored-flower varieties of Sijilan (Cymbidium ensifolium). The flower diameter is generally more than 5 cm. When new shoots have not yet matured into adult plants, the pseudobulbs are generally very red, and as the plant matures they gradually fade. This characteristic is currently unmatched among all colored-flower Sijilan varieties.

The price of the Mobao orchid is relatively expensive, with strong seedlings costing about 400 yuan to 600 yuan per seedling. This kind of orchid is very easy to grow. Would you like to plant a pot of it?
