Money Tree Stems Often Shrivel? It's Not Too Late to Pay Attention to These 2 Issues

The Money Tree, also known as Zamioculcas zamiifolia (ZZ plant), is a perennial evergreen herbaceous plant. It is a rare foliage plant with underground tubers, with pinnate compound leaves emerging from the top of the tuber, firm and deep green, possessing very high ornamental value, and it also symbolizes "bringing in wealth and treasure, prosperity and peace" and so on.
Recently, some gardening enthusiasts have reported that their Money Trees often develop shriveled stems. In fact, if these 2 issues in Money Tree care are not taken seriously, it's still not too late to learn about them now!
1. Improper Watering
The Money Tree prefers a moist yet somewhat dry environment. Both overwatering and underwatering can cause the stems to shrivel. If overwatering has caused root rot, and it is only mild rot, you just need to move it to a ventilated area for care. For more severe cases, the best method is to remove it from the pot, trim the roots, and also trim off the already shriveled stems, then repot and replant it.
For underwatering, you should replenish water promptly, then move it to a shaded area for care, allowing it to recover quickly.
2. Insufficient Nutrients
The Money Tree is quite fond of fertilizer. Some gardening enthusiasts feel that their Money Tree has barely grown, or they are too busy and forget to fertilize it, leading to insufficient nutrients. This causes the branches and leaves to compete for nutrients, resulting in weaker stems shriveling, and this is irreversible.
During the growing season, apply a compound fertilizer or decomposed organic fertilizer 2-3 times per month, such as soybean cake fertilizer liquid, rice washing water, fish intestine water, etc. After the Mid-Autumn Festival, stop applying nitrogen fertilizer and focus on phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. You can spray a 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution on the branches and leaves to promote the hardening and filling of new leaves, increase the plant's resistance, and help it overwinter better.
