Does Jianlan 'Xiao Taohong' bloom with fragrance? With pictures and cultivation methods
Xiao Taohong is a variety of Jianlan (Cymbidium ensifolium). One of its characteristics is a long flowering period; it can bloom all year round, and its fragrance is of the delicate type. It is also very easy to grow, and in terms of price it is relatively cheap, around 60 yuan to 100 yuan, with some costing less than 60 yuan. It originates from southern China, mainly distributed in Fujian, Taiwan, China, Guangdong and other places.

Xiao Taohong has relatively light leaf color, and the veins on the leaves are fairly distinct. The flowers are mostly yellow-green or light red; those with milky yellow or purplish-red markings have large numbers of flowers. A single stem usually bears 5-7 flowers (a few can bear more than ten); the flowers carry milky yellow or red-purple spots. Xiao Taohong is showy but not garish, appealing to both refined and popular tastes.
Easy to plant: the underground part of Xiao Taohong has pseudobulbs and a well-developed root system, making it very easy to cultivate. First of all, you need good soil for growing flowers. When cultivating Xiao Taohong with special orchid soil, water when the soil is dry and leave it alone when it is not; with such extensive management, it is very easy to grow and belongs to the beginner-entry-level varieties.
Fragrance overflowing: the floral fragrance of Xiao Taohong belongs to the fresh type, fragrant just to the right degree, unlike other varieties that are too rich and somewhat unbearable. Smelling its fresh fragrance refreshes the heart and mind; the flowers can be enjoyed and the fragrance can purify the air, achieving multiple benefits at once.
Excellent for bonsai: as one of the most free-flowering and easiest-to-grow orchids, Xiao Taohong is the first choice for growing potted orchids and is an excellent potted plant.
