Some readers use shade netting when growing orchids, and in autumn they do not know when it is best to remove the net. If they remove it too early, they worry the orchids will get sunburned; if too late, they worry the orchids will not get enough light. In fact, for the orchid's sunlight needs we can refer to wild orchids in nature.

The places where we generally find wild orchids are mostly under pine forests or broadleaf forests, especially mixed forests. Orchids in pine forests all grow in the gaps where the trees are not dense, and in autumn and winter the pine needles fall, increasing their light. Broadleaf forests, meanwhile, gradually begin to shed their leaves after Frost's Descent, so throughout the whole winter and early spring the orchids have very good light.

Therefore, when growing orchids we can refer to wild orchids: remove the shade net before Frost's Descent (the Jiangnan climate of Haoshe Nongfu), and put up the shade net every year at Grain Rain (April 20). In this way the orchids will not get sunburned, and their light needs will not be affected.

If you have better tips on growing orchids, you are welcome to leave them in the comments. If you like Haoshe Nongfu's official account, forward it to friends to share, and thank you for following.
