Most bathrooms at home have rather poor ventilation, which is why odors in the bathroom are harder to bear. Still using air fresheners to get rid of bathroom odors? That is a bit outdated. Green plants can play a role in purifying the air at home. Placing a few kinds of green plants in the bathroom removes moisture and odors at the same time, achieving several goals at once.

1. Spider plant

The spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is a plant that enjoys partial shade, making it the most suitable for growing in a bathroom. The air humidity in a bathroom is relatively high, which also suits the spider plant's growth. One pot of spider plant can purify a space of about 8 sq m, just like an air purifier. Even in a newly renovated room, keeping a few pots of spider plant can purify toxic gases.

2. Boston fern

The Boston fern (Nephrolepis exaltata) is a common indoor fern. It is also well suited to growing in a damp environment and can be said to be the most suitable plant for placing in a bathroom, effectively purifying the air and removing odors. The Boston fern prefers to keep its potting soil moist, needs a sufficient water supply during the growing season, and can also have its leaves misted frequently; a dry environment easily causes the leaf edges to turn dry and yellow.

3. Snake plant

The snake plant (Sansevieria trifasciata) has strong vitality, is very drought-tolerant and tolerant of poor soil, likes light and also tolerates shade. Its leaves can absorb water vapor from the air on their own, and it can grow well when kept in a bathroom. It is highly adaptable, tolerant of heat, moisture and shade, and has no strict requirements for soil, needing only good drainage.

4. Ivy

Ivy (Hedera helix) is a plant that rather likes moisture and is fairly adaptable, with low requirements for soil and light, making it very easy to keep alive. It can also purify the air and kill bacteria. Ivy can be grown either in soil or in water, and the difficulty of caring for it is almost zero.

5. Mint

Mint carries a fresh scent and is an important kind. It rather likes damp environments, and placing it in a bathroom can not only improve the air but also has a sterilizing and disinfecting effect. Mint rather likes warm, humid environments with plenty of sunlight, so if the lighting conditions in the bathroom are poor, it is best to place it in the light regularly to receive sunlight. Water has a great influence on mint's growth, and its water needs are relatively high during the growing season.

6. Mugwort

Mugwort (Artemisia argyi) has a strong fragrance and can be said to be a natural deodorizer when grown in a bathroom. Its leaves can also absorb odors in the bathroom, with very good results. Mugwort is highly adaptable and tolerant of poor soil, but it must not be allowed to waterlog, to avoid causing disease.
