Rui Ding was discovered in Zhoushan in 1989 and selected by Tang Qin of Yixing. The outer petals of the Rui Ding orchid are of the bamboo-leaf type, the petaloids (lip-like petals) are transformed into a lip, broad and slightly recurved, with green moss along the central ridge, stable flowering characteristics, and full flower form; the bud sheath is quicksilver red, the staminal petal flower is complete, the red patches are bright and eye-catching, the column is mutated, the leaves are semi-pendent, and there is a flowering form with a green background and black spots.
