Snake plants (Sansevieria) are highly adaptable and not demanding about their growing environment, making them very suitable for decorating the home. So how do you get a snake plant to fill out its pot in autumn? Below we introduce the method!

Pine needles

In autumn, you can find naturally fallen pine needles in the wild. Collect them, bake them in the sun, and then place them at the bottom of the snake plant pot.

Pine needles are rich in nutrients and have good air permeability and drainage. Placing pine needles at the bottom of the pot is beneficial to the plant's growth, ensures the soil does not become waterlogged, makes it less prone to compacting, helps maintain soil moisture, and also repels insects, so rooting is very fast.

Pine needles need to be treated before use. If collected from the wild, they need to be spread out in the sun to disinfect, sterilise and prevent insects.

When collecting, choose pine needles that have been fully decomposed over many years. Fully decomposed pine needles contain a variety of nutrients, which can provide the snake plant with ample nutrition and ensure healthy growth.

For routine care, place it in a spot with plenty of light. Do not keep it in a dark environment for long periods, as this will make the leaves dull and lifeless.

Do not water too frequently; follow the principle of "rather dry than wet." Especially at the seedling stage, watering too much can easily cause the rhizome to rot or even die.
