When it comes to growing orchids, most of the time it is for the sake of seeing them bloom, but after all, orchids do not bloom very often, so most of the time you are still looking at their leaves, and growing them for foliage is also a very good choice.

But when growing orchids, it is not as if they grow leaves whenever you want leaves or bloom whenever you want flowers. Orchids are still rather difficult to grow. Although orchids have a "light diet", if they lack fertilizer, the direct result is that the leaves do not look good, either yellow, or thin, or growing crooked and stunted, which ruins their beauty. So in daily orchid care, proper fertilizing can make them look very beautiful, with leaves upright, robust and shiny.

And today, the editor will introduce 3 treasures. Use these three "treasures" for growing orchids, and it is very easy to make the leaves grow more robust.

1. Plant ash

It is said that potassium fertilizer is the fertilizer that makes leaves grow larger, so plant ash is the most suitable kind. Plant ash is the ash left after plants are burned, and it contains many nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus and calcium, as well as a considerable portion of trace elements. So using plant ash for growing orchids can very well supplement orchids with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. In addition, plant ash can also effectively inhibit bacterial growth, so it can also let the root system "dine" in a clean environment.

When using plant ash, you can mix it directly into the growing medium, or sprinkle it directly on the surface of the pot, and then water once thoroughly so that the nutrients dissolved out seep down. Of course, plant ash should not be used too much (the amount only needs to be 1/10 of the total growing medium). The aqueous solution of plant ash is alkaline.

Although it can adjust the pH value of the soil, too much can easily damage the root system. And if you do not have plant ash, you can also replace it with a special organic liquid fertilizer for orchids. Dilute it 1000 times with water, put it in a spray bottle and spray directly. Like rotten fertilizer, it has comprehensive nutrition and can very well promote root and leaf growth.

2. Aspirin

There is no need to say much about aspirin. It is often used when you have a fever, but its active ingredient, salicylic acid, is the most capable helper for growing orchids. Salicylic acid can effectively promote the growth of orchid roots and has a very strong root-inducing ability. When the orchid root system is strong and the nutrition is sufficient, the leaves will naturally grow extremely green.

Aspirin is generally ground into powder and then dissolved in water, with a water dilution ratio of 1:1500. After dissolving, let it stand for 3 hours so that the active ingredients hydrolyze before use. After hydrolysis, it can be used directly to water the roots, once every half a month or one month. After two months, the root system will easily fill the pot.

3. Beer + vitamin B2

The above two parts start from the roots, and now we start from the orchid leaves. The combination of beer + vitamin B2 is very suitable for growing orchids. Beer contains many nutrients, and with the alcohol it contains, it can very well stimulate orchid leaves, while vitamin B2 can effectively promote the photosynthesis and respiration of orchid leaves, better promoting orchid leaf development. It is very effective.

For the use of beer + vitamin B2, 500 ml of beer can have half a tablet of vitamin B2 added, then diluted 50 times with water before use. After putting it in a spray bottle, spray directly on the back of the orchid leaves (because the back has more stomata and is easy to absorb). However, try to do this under windless and cool conditions, because wind will make the water evaporate quickly and can easily increase the concentration of the "liquid fertilizer" sprayed on, causing the leaves to burn.

Alright, the above are the three "treasures" for promoting vigorous orchid leaf growth. Use them well, and the leaves will grow upright and strong, very beautiful. Have you learned it?
