Since it was my first time sowing gazania seeds, I did not have high hopes, so I neglected to photograph every step along the way. It was not until the flowers emerged that I was amazed, and I fell in love with her without hesitation. Today I am sharing my joy with fellow flower lovers...

Since it was my first time sowing gazania seeds, I did not have high hopes, so I neglected to photograph every step along the way. It was not until the flowers emerged that I was amazed, and I fell in love with her without hesitation. Today I am sharing my joy with fellow flower lovers

Location: Beijing

Growing location: indoor bay window

January 20: Bought imported gazania seeds

January 21: Sowed seeds, room temperature 20-23°C; air humidity 40%; domestic peat soil / fine vermiculite 1:1; 5*6cm small pots, one seed per pot; lightly covered with soil and misted with water, no plastic wrap.

January 28: Of 20 seeds, 19 sprouted. Watered by the wet-dry cycle, no fertilizer.

February 19: Four true leaves, potted up. Leaf mold (homemade) / domestic peat / perlite 3:2:1, 5% chicken manure, 1% bone meal, 12*12cm small pots, one plant per pot, watered thoroughly, drenched roots with carbendazim; no fertilizer;

After 3 days of shade care, returned to normal care, watering when half dry, about once every 4-5 days, no fertilizer

March 21: Carbendazim root drench

April 19: A miracle appeared. It is still continuing to this day.

Gazania characteristics: a perennial herbaceous sun-loving flower, loves light and sun, prefers dry conditions. Because it forms clumps, it needs loose soil; its fibrous roots are not very strong. Since it likes dry conditions, the soil needs good drainage. The plant is short and compact, does not need much fertilizer, and after flowering should be given phosphorus and potassium fertilizer.

With sufficient light, it blooms in 90 days (poor light leads to bud drop). After flowering, each clump produces one flower, and blooming is continuous. Grown indoors in the north, it can be sown in all four seasons, with autumn sowing being best. If you sow several plants, they bloom one after another, and you can enjoy flowers every day. It is best to use small pots, one plant per pot, so each can fully receive sunlight, and mainly so you can arrange them freely to enjoy the flowers.
