10/14 Goddess walks with you: Yunlin Xiluo Mazu Taiping Mazu invites you to run for health and blessings

To promote Mazu culture and encourage nationwide exercise, Yunlin County's Xiluo Fuxing Temple will hold the first-ever "2018 Xiluo Mazu Taiping Mazu Blessing Marathon" on October 14. A promotional press conference was held at Fuxing Temple yesterday afternoon (the 6th), where Yunlin County Magistrate Li Jinyong signed up on the spot for the 3 km walking group and, together with Fuxing Temple Chairman Yang Wenzhong and costumed marathon runners, invited marathon runners from home and abroad to come and compete, following in Taiping Mazu's footsteps to run for blessings and health.

Magistrate Li Jinyong said that Xiluo Fuxing Temple is a temple commended by the Ministry of the Interior for outstanding performance, and that Taiping Mazu's compassionate protection and thriving incense offerings make it an important spiritual anchor for the people of Taiwan. The lively and grand temple fair celebrations that grew out of this faith are also an opportunity to attract tourist crowds and boost local business activity. This year's Xiluo Taiping Mazu Blessing Marathon is the first of its kind, combining road running with elements commonly seen at Taiwan temple celebrations such as techno Third Prince performances, traditional procession performances and blessing ceremonies, creating a unique temple fair marathon carnival that blends tradition and modernity. Besides encouraging people to take part in road running and walking activities to strengthen their bodies, it also lets everyone experience the cultural charm of Xiluo, further drawing runners and tourists from home and abroad.
