Clivia (Clivia miniata) has thick, emerald-green leaves with high ornamental value and is a common potted plant in homes, but it rarely blooms. In fact, if you want Clivia to bloom, fertilizing is key. Only with sufficient nutrients can the plant grow vigorously and bloom more. Below is an introduction to 1 fertilizing method!

Now that autumn has arrived, it is exactly the growing season for Clivia. You will find the plant starting to grow new shoots, and its demand for nutrients is high, so Clivia needs to be fertilized.

If Clivia is in the blooming stage, it needs nutrient supplementation. Fertilizing in autumn is the process that prompts the plant to form flower buds.

For fertilizing, potassium dihydrogen phosphate can be used to supplement the plant's nutrients. Fertilizing this way can promote the plant's flower bud formation and help it send up a scape and bloom. Generally, apply it 2 times every 1 month; 1 time use a slow-release fertilizer, which can be placed on the soil surface so the fertilizer effect slowly seeps into the soil, keeping nutrients sufficient while maintaining balanced nutrients and healthy plant growth.

When the flower buds are about to open, stop fertilizing, otherwise the scape is prone to getting stuck. So for Clivia to send up a scape and bloom, it needs a certain amount of nutrients and water; insufficient nutrients will affect blooming.

There are generally two reasons Clivia gets a stuck scape: first, insufficient water and fertilizer. Second, insufficient temperature. The optimum temperature for sending up a scape is around 20°C. If you want Clivia to send up a scape and bloom, you need to maintain a suitable temperature.
