Recently, while reading comments in the backend, Teacher Xiaoye saw a flower lover say that their money tree had been looking listless lately, always with yellow leaves, and when they pulled it out to take a look, it turned out the roots had rotted. What's going on here?
Don't worry, this season is a special period for the money tree. If flower lovers have never repotted their money tree before, then the money tree is very likely to suffer from malnutrition due to a lack of nutrients in the soil medium, and over time this easily leads to yellow leaves and rotten roots! So if flower lovers run into this situation, hurry up and repot it!
Specific repotting steps:
Before repotting the money tree, first observe the condition of the soil. If the soil is dry and compacted, it is recommended to water it once 1-2 days before repotting, so that when removing it from the pot, the soil comes off easily and there won't be much impact on the money tree's roots!
When removing the money tree from its pot, hold the base of the trunk and shake it, and once the soil in the pot loosens, tip the pot on its side and pull the money tree out!
Summer is very hot. If during this season the watering is improper, or the potting soil has not been loosened for a long time, the money tree can easily develop black, rotting roots due to lack of oxygen and water!
Prepare a knife sterilized with alcohol or boiling water, remove the rotten, blackened and old roots from the money tree's root system, then soak it in a potassium permanganate solution for 30 minutes.
If black rot occurs in the money tree's roots, it means bacteria were already present in the previous potting soil. In this case, you can replace it with new soil, and it is recommended to add some microbial agents. Microbial communities can help improve the nutrient content of the soil medium and prevent root burn and root rot caused by improper fertilizing or malnutrition!
After repotting the money tree, don't rush to water it. Place it in a cool, ventilated spot to rest, and water it after 3-5 days!
