Huahua went to a friend's house as a guest over the weekend and found that a pot of flowers on her balcony had bloomed. The flowers were big and vibrant, even prettier than roses! When Huahua took a closer look, it turned out to be a desert rose (Adenium obesum)!

When a desert rose blooms, it's 100 times prettier than a rose!

First, let Huahua show everyone just how beautiful a blooming desert rose really is!

Scatter a few seeds into the soil and you can grow a big pot!

Many masters of growing desert roses love to sow seeds, so today Huahua will try it out with everyone!

1. First, prepare desert rose seeds. To ensure the germination rate, you can prepare a few extra seeds.

2. Use the paper towel germination method for sowing. Prepare a box, line it with a paper towel, moisten it with a spray bottle, then put the desert rose seeds in, and cover with another layer of paper towel.

3. It only takes about 3-5 days for the desert rose seeds to sprout!

4. Prepare loose, breathable soil, place the germinated desert rose into the soil, and you can sprinkle a layer of sand on the surface of the potting soil, keeping the sprout point facing up.

5. Place the entire pot on a south-facing balcony. Basically, it only takes 1-2 weeks for the desert rose seedlings to emerge!

6. As the desert rose grows, be sure to remember to give it plenty of sunlight and water it more, but be careful never to let water accumulate in the pot. Replenish fertilizer about once a month, and the desert rose will grow up as quickly as possible!

Only by growing desert roses this way can they thrive more and more and bloom abundantly!

1. Ensure the soil is loose and breathable

If you want desert roses to grow well, the soil mix must be loose and breathable. Materials like peat soil, coconut coir, perlite, and river sand can all be used. If it's a seedling, you can use peat soil and perlite in a 3:1 ratio; if it's a mature plant, you can use coconut coir and perlite in a 2:1 ratio.

2. Give plenty of sunlight

Desert roses love sunlight, so it's best to keep them on a south-facing balcony or south-facing windowsill. If there isn't enough light, the plant will become weak and thin, affecting flowering. If the desert rose has already bloomed, you can shade it appropriately, which will make the flower color deeper and also extend the blooming time of each individual flower.

3. Water carefully

During the seedling stage of the desert rose, the root system is relatively weak, so at this time you need to keep the potting soil moist; after it grows into a mature plant, water only after the potting soil has completely dried out. Generally choose morning or evening to water, and in winter you can choose noon to water.

4. Supplement with enough fertilizer

If you want desert roses to grow vigorously and bloom abundantly, you must fertilize more. During the growing season of the desert rose, apply more nitrogen fertilizer, about once every 10 days, and you can also mix some fertilizer into the soil as a base fertilizer. Before flowering, spray some monopotassium phosphate on the leaves, and combine it with root watering, so the desert rose can bloom more!

Cut the desert rose once, and root rot is solved immediately!

Some flower lovers especially love watering, and their hands itch if they don't water for a few days. Over time, the desert roses at home are about to get root rot!

1. If you notice the desert rose yellowing and dropping leaves for no reason, it may be root rot. Dig it out from the potting soil.

2. Use a knife to cut off the rotted roots of the desert rose. Cut off all the rotted parts, otherwise it is very easy to get infected. After cutting, you can apply some carbendazim powder to the wound to sterilize and disinfect.

3. Let the cut surface of the desert rose dry. It takes about 20 days or so to dry, then prepare to pot it and grow roots.

4. Prepare loose and breathable nutrient soil, add a layer of sand on the surface, and pot the desert rose. It only takes about 1 week for the desert rose to grow new roots again!

Chop the desert rose once, and one pot blooms in 5 colors!

If it's a native desert rose, basically all the flowers that bloom are single-colored. If you want one plant to be colorful, you can totally try the grafting method!

1. First prepare the materials needed for grafting: several desert roses of different varieties, a sharp knife, plastic wrap, and rubber bands.

2. For grafting, you can use the flat grafting method. It can be done when the temperature is above 20°C. The scion should be slightly thinner than the rootstock, and you can choose a scion with a terminal bud. During grafting, the wound on the branch will reveal sticky sap. You can soak the lower end of the branch in clean water for a few minutes to increase the grafting success rate.

3. After grafting, put a plastic bag over the joint and tie it up, then place it in a cool, ventilated area for care. Basically, the wound will heal in 7-10 days. When new buds emerge, untie the plastic bag.

4. A desert rose grafted this way can produce flowers of several colors on a single plant!
